Happy New Year!

A new year has started and 2012 memories are already being made. The year 2011 brought many ups and downs but great memories were made and reflecting back we are very blessed.
In December Rick and I were able to attend a Syracuse vs. State basketball game. It was a good time with our friends and Syracuse pulled out a win. We are very proud of our team as they are currently 19-0. Go Orangemen!
We enjoyed hosting a small Christmas party. It is always a nice spending time with friends. We had an awesome Christmas with Nana and Poppy down to celebrate with us. Roman enjoyed watching Charlie (his elf from the North Pole) and all his adventures. Mommy and Daddy even got new furniture for the house. It feels so nice to get new things and freshen up the house. Roman was quite happy with all his presents-bike, scooter, transformers, train set, and so much more. Really??? Why do kids need this much? We are very thankful to be able to give him a Christmas to remember but teach him at the same time to be thankful for what we have. We were able to discuss with him that everyone is not as fortunate and we had him donate a coat to a coat drive. He was very proud to give his coat to another little boy who needed one.
Roman is now playing soccer and he is enjoying it very much. Rick enjoys taking him on Saturday mornings and giving mommy her break.
We have taken Roman to two movies in the past month. We have seen The Muppets and Alvin and the Chipmunks. There is nothing like seeing a little boy in a big theatre chair holding a large popcorn. We have also enjoyed friend's birthday parties, playdates with friends, field trips with Ms. Lora (Roman's AWESOME babysitter), and a spontaneous weekend cookout with the neighbors. Rick received a smoker for Christmas and it has attracted the guys in the neighborhood. There is nothing like seeing guys hook up a tv outside on the patio and sit around watching meat smoke. I guess it's the little things in life:)
Roman has said some pretty funny things this past month-"Mom, you look like you are going to pop." "Mom, I love you so much." "I got bigger." "So much or little." Rick has been calling Roman Bobby to just be funny. Roman has picked up on this and has been calling Rick-Ricky Bobby. I have been being called Mama. I guess we have a little southern boy on our hands. One of Roman's big discovery this past month is how to use the computer. He received a kid friendly mouse for Christmas. It took him all of 2 minutes to figure out. It is amazing how fast kids pick up on things and how advanced they will be with technology.
We enjoyed a weekend at the beach with some friends for New Year's. The weather was beautiful and the kids enjoyed playing outside in the sand. Roman especially enjoyed the rides in the golf cart.
Unfortunate, 2012 started with a sad event. Our babysitter- Ms. Lora's husband suddenly passed. We all were very shocked and are very sad that such a young person has been taken from this earth so soon. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family has they will be faced with many new chapters in their life. We attended the funeral and realized that this man and his family are truly great people and the family is extremely strong and are rejoicing that he is in a better place. We feel so blessed to be apart of this family and our lives are forever changed for knowing them. We will never understand life and all the things it throws at us. All we know is that God is in control and he has a plan so beyond our comprehension. Our faith is strengthened when things like this happen. I am so blessed to know that I don't have to be in control-there is someone out there who is watching out for us.
Roman turned 4 on Friday. Yesterday we enjoyed a great Superhero birthday party for Roman. I had a blast creating all the things for it. He may not have quite appreciated all the hard work that went into it but one day I am sure he will. He enjoyed playing with his friends and opening his presents. We can't believe how big he has gotten. He has blessed us so much and has truly been a light to us and his smile makes the world a better place. We love you Roman with all our hearts! We wish you the happiest year in 2012.

Wrapping Up 2011!

This has been another fun filled month. We had a wonderful, thankful Thanksgiving holiday. We enjoyed frying a turkey-our yearly tradition. We had some friends over and the kids had a blast doing somersaults and playing after we enjoyed yummy food and deserts. We have a lot of things to be thankful and it was nice to discuss these things with Roman. Each night he was able to add to his list of things he was thankful for.
One thing we have been truly thankful for is the gorgeous weather that North Carolina has given us this past month. We have enjoyed many trips to the park, feeding the ducks, swinging on the swings, playing outside, and riding the monster truck (Roman that is).
Roman and I went with some friends to the Raleigh Christmas parade. Roman always enjoys watching the marching bands and old cars. It was very packed there as one of North Carolina's celebrities-Scotty McCreery was the Grand Marshall. Roman saw his first famous person and did not even notice it. At least I have a picture to prove it to him. We also went to the Apex parade with some neighbors. It was very cool as it was a night parade so all the Christmas lights were very pretty. We spent the rest of the evening hanging out with some friends at a local restaurant. Roman was a trooper and behaved himself well...Rick on the other hand caused quite the scene. He elbowed the waitress (on accident) and his beer broke and flew everywhere. Roman even got a little cut from it. You know what they say..."You can dress them up but you can't take them out." Roman's very small cut has healed up and he was impressed at how he no longer can see it. He said that Jesus fixed it. Very cute!
We enjoyed a nice evening with friends where we ate a delicious venison meal. Many of Rick's buddies have got their deer. Rick was getting quite jealous. That jealousy was short lived as he was able to get his first deer of the season as well. He was very excited and Roman was also very excited to share this moment with his dad. We have already cooked some up and Roman loved it. We look forward to more venison in the future as I am venturing into making jerky. YUMMY! The other day we were able to have some family pictures taken. They will be added to our photo album as soon as they are ready. After the photos we decided to go eat brunch. We went to IHOP. After that Roman had baseball...proceeded by the parade and out to eat. Hence the story from before. The point is-we had a very long day and did not get home until late. We went to put Roman to bed and Lovey (his comfort blanket that he has had since birth) was nowhere to be found. I was about to have a mental break down with him. I think I am just as attached to it as he is. Well, Mommy mode kicked in and I called IHOP. Luckily they had Lovey safe and sound in a drawer. We had to convince Roman to sleep without it for the night. It was a very long night (over tired and no lovey makes for not much sleep) but we got through it and we all learned a great lesson that night. Lovey is no longer aloud to leave the house...EVER!
Rick and I have both enjoyed a night away. Rick was able to hang out with his guy friends. I was able to get together with some friends for dinner and another night of watching a movie with some friends. It is so nice to have these evenings out every now and than.
I had another doctor's appointment and the baby is growing and I am feeling great. His heartbeat was strong and all my tests are normal and we are right on track to have a healthy and happy baby. We are all getting excited. I am 29 weeks and counting. We are able to feel the baby move all the time. Rick was able to feel and hear the heart beat the other night by laying his head on my stomach. It was such a cool experience.
Roman finished up this season of T-ball and he has expressed the desire to play soccer. Despite the fact that Daddy and Mommy are not big fans of soccer, we signed him up. We are secretly hoping he will want to go back to baseball one day. Like I told Rick though-if Roman ends up loving soccer, we will too because he is our son and anything that he does will be amazing and we will want to be apart of it. He starts his soccer league this Saturday and I am excited to see him take on a new adventure.
We have decorated for Christmas and Roman was a big help with the tree. Yes-some ornaments did have to be moved after he went to bed. A few of the branches had way too many ornaments on them. We have a friend named Charlie-our elf who visits us during this time of the year. Every night he moves and we have to find him. You never know where he is going to be. This year he has been quite the little entertainer. He has already had many adventures in the Przygoda household. Make sure to check out our photo albums to see all his fun antics. Mommy has set the bar quite high for Charlie already. I hope I am able to keep it up for the next 21 days:)
I have been very busy making some homemade gifts this year. I have adventured into making monogrammed pictures with crayons, necklaces, silhouettes on Picnik, and using unique items to wrap the gifts in. I have also tried some more fun activities with Roman to keep his attention. We have had dance parties, glow in the dark balloon parties, popcorn and movie nights, and lots of baking...he calls himself, "My Little Chef". Roman has done a good job at learning to write his name. He is able to write it alone with only verbal guidance. We are so proud of him. Some of his words that he has been using are: probably and whatever. He picks up on all vocabulary that he hears and he loves to tell stories. I can't believe I will soon have a new little boy to start adventures with and watch Roman be an awesome big brother.

Baseball, Bump, and Boo's!

This past month has had many adventures just like always. My parents came in town to visit for a couple of days. This is always a fun time for Roman. Poppy always makes sure he is stocked up on his tractor collection and Grammy is teaching him to be a baker. They love to make apple pie together. Roman always gives it a 'two thumbs up'. We enjoyed the Farmer's Market, a car show, and some good food.
We enjoyed a day at the North Carolina Zoo. It was great weather and Roman enjoyed seeing the Albino alligators. His favorite part though was the Baboons. He was very intrigued with why they have pink butts. He is still talking about it:)
Roman is still playing t-ball. This new session is more advanced. He is not actually playing in a 'game'. It is hilarious to watch 3-5 year olds trying to play a game. On Roman's first game, he hit the ball (this is what he does best) and ran to third instead of first. Make sure you watch the video of his first t-ball game in our photo albums.
Rick continues to hunt. He has yet come home with a deer but we are keeping our fingers crossed. Our friend who got a deer did bring us over some venison. Roman has been waiting to try it and he LOVED it. I was impressed to see him eat meat other than chicken.
Nana and Poppy also came in town one weekend. We enjoyed a nice lunch for Vern's birthday. Roman enjoyed having them in town and he got to have a 'pajama party' with them one night as Rick and I hung out with some neighbors for a Halloween party. This year we were has mismatched of a family as you can get. Rick was a redneck, I was a pregnant skeleton (which I made), and Roman was Bumble Been Transformer. At the party we had a pumpkin carving contest. I did not win but am still really proud of my creation. Roman enjoyed trick or treating on Monday. Thank God the rain stopped and we had a blast. He did not want to go back home. We are now looking forward to the next Holiday-Thanksgiving.
I had a doctor's appointment to check on the baby. Everything looks great. Max has a strong heartbeat and mommy is measuring normal. It is so funny the second time around. After my appointment I got in the car and realized I did not ask what I measured, what the heartbeat was or any of the details to write in the baby book. This pregnancy is definitely not 'journaled' (if that is even a word) as the first. The second time around is so different as the excitement comes from the baby and not the pregnancy itself. Roman is excited to meet his brother and will talk to the baby. He talks to my belly button-he says this is the microphone. I am now 25 weeks pregnant but enjoy the last pregnant picture taken anyway.
Roman has said some pretty funny things (AGAIN) this past month. They include, "Mommy, you make my heart so happy." I asked him why he asked so many questions and he said, "Because I need to know so many things." One night when I would not let him do something he said, "Mom, you are so hard headed." My car had to get towed one day because it needed a new battery. When we went to leave the next day in Daddy's car, Roman said, "Mom, are you disappointed in your car?" Roman's latest game to play is wedding. You have to hold his hand and walk slowly from one end of the house to the other. At the end, you kiss. He says this is what Mommy and Daddy did. He will than look at our rings. It is so cool to see him grasp this concept.
I have been very busy doing 'DIY' projects. I love seeing something and realizing I can do it too. You will see some of my creations in the photos from the past month.
Remember to be thankful this month. We should always be thankful but let this month be a time to stop and take note of all the wonderful things in life.

FALL into Fun!

We have enjoyed the first couple weeks of Fall. The cooler weather is awesome and Fall activities are our favorite. Rick has enjoyed the start of Fall this year as he is back into hunting. He has gone out every weekend. He did manage to shoot one with his bow but the poor deer was never found. He did enjoy finding a deer that was shot by our neighbor though. Roman also enjoyed this. Roman is really into all the hunting things and he got upset when Daddy did not come home with a deer. He said, "Now we never get to eat deer." Not like he has ever eaten it anyways. We are looking forward to when Daddy does get one though. He has been both bow and gun hunting. My husband is a true outdoors man. I just love him in his camo.
We supported the Lung Transplant Foundation one Saturday afternoon. This is a cause that is near and dear to us and we are glad we get to participate in such a great cause.

Two weekends ago we went to Virginia Beach. We went camping at Holiday Travel campground. We rented a cabin as it was Roman's first camping trip. It was quite rustic and he just kept saying that it was an old place. He seemed to enjoy it. Unfortunetely it rained the whole weekend and the Blue Angels Air Show was not so good. We did get to see all the planes but no flying. We ended up leaving early to come home. We are looking forward to when we get to go back and enjoy a full camping weekend again with Roman.
Roman has continued to play T-ball. Next weekend is his last session. We signed him up for a league and they will be starting to play some games. We are looking forward to this and will definetely be taking some video clips of this. I can only imagine what a bunch of kids ages 3-6 look like playing a game of baseball.

This past weekend Nana was in town. We enjoyed eating out, shopping, and the pumpkin farm. We went on a hayride, jumped on hay bails, played with the Tonka trucks and Roman went on a pony ride. He came home with a big pumpkin which he can't wait to decorate. We did however start decorating the house for Halloween. He wanted to hang up his spider webs and ghosts. He is super excited about his costume this year. He is going to be Flash. He tried it on and ran down the street as fast as he could to show the neighbor. It was hillarious to see this little guy dressed like Flash running down the road.
Roman witnessed his first car accident. Luckily it was not us involved. We were driving home the other day and the car in front of us rear ended (hard) the car in front of him who than hit the car in front of him. I saw it was going to happen so I was able to slow down and miss it. I pulled over as I witnessed the whole thing. Thank God everyone was ok. They were all shaken up but I was able to calm them down and get the police called. I had to give a statement and they were so cool to Roman. Roman thought it was cool to see all the police and action. He said, "I wish we could crash." I had to explain to him that it is dangerous. It is not like television where everything always works out ok. All in all it was quite an experience and we are blessed to not have been involved.

We are so excited to announce that we are having a BOY! I am 20 weeks and half way done. I have been feeling good and the doctor says the baby looks great. Roman has accepted the fact that he is having a brother and not a sister. He is excited and loves the nursery. I was so excited one weekend that I completed it. I know, super early-but at least I know it is ready. We are also excited that we decided on a name. We are going to call him Max Stone Przygoda. Stone was a family name and Max is just one that we like.
Roman has said some pretty funny things this past month. They include-"You are the best mommy in the city."(It used to be world but we have been demoted to city. In his mind the city is bigger) "Mommy, just buy it from dot com." "Boy, you are in a heap of trouble." (He repeats everything from the CARS movie.) Roman has also mastered verbally spelling his name. He is so proud of himself and will point out the letters in his name when he sees it. We were at the sports complex where he plays T-ball and the name of it is Dreamsports Center. He was looking at the sign and said, "Man, there sure are a lot of R's here."

Earthquakes, Hurricanes, three year olds...OH MY!!!

Well, this has been one adventurous month for us. I am back into the swing of things at school. I am excited for the new group of kids and Roman is settling back into his routine with Ms. Lora. We feel so blessed once again to be able to drop him off with this wonderful woman. She has taken them on some 'field trips'. She has taught them about donating items we no longer need, practicing their writing skills in the bank, and purchasing items at the store. He is looking forward to when they will be going to the neighbors to check out the chickens and get eggs.
This past month has been filled with some good fun. Rick was able to go to a Panthers/Giants game in Charlotte. He has also got himself set up for hunting this year. He is so excited about this as he has not done this for 10 years. I hope he gets a deer and fills up my freezer. Bring home the venison baby!
We have gone to some Durham Bulls games, Jump Zone, Monkey Joe's, friend's birthday parties, and random trips to downtown just to walk around and grab a bite to eat. I was able to attend a spa party. It was very relaxing and a nice break to get away and be pampered. My brother Steve and his family were also down for a few days to visit. We always love having them in town. While they were here, the girls and Turner had a contest. We did a home version of Iron Chef. Our secret ingredient was marshmallows. Unfortunately, Turner and I lost. Even though I think our dish was the best, the judges obviously did not. At least I never claimed to like being in the kitchen...and here is my excuse to stay out of the kitchen for the future.
Well, we are starting to prepare for this baby. We have given Roman the Queen bed from the spare bedroom. He seems to like it. He was excited to put the crib and other baby items in the other bedroom. He will occasionally walk in the room and say he has to go check on the baby's room. He is still also convinced that we are having a girl. We will find out in 2 weeks if he is right. As for me, I am feeling better but still will get spells of 'yuckiness'. The belly is growing. I know this as Roman told me the other day, "Mommy, your belly is getting big." There you have it:)
Roman has continued to use some pretty funny words. His biggest word is still ridiculous. The other day I brought him home a present. He was so excited and jumping up and down. He stopped, looked at me, and said, "Mommy, you take my breath away!" It caught Rick and I off guard but it was the cutest thing ever. These are the moments that makes being a parent all worth it.
We have had some crazy weather this past month. We experienced our first earthquake. It was so weird as I have never experienced one before but new right away what it was. Not a week later we were facing a Hurricane. Thank God that we were not hit hard. Unfortunately, our friends and family in Upstate NY and Vermont were hit very hard. They are still getting things back to normal. We wish we could be there to help but the sense of community that we see going on up there is very heart felt. They are all in our thoughts and prayers as they are continuing to put their lives back together again.

New Beginnings!

Well, we are pregnant! Most of you already know but it is now officially 'out of the box'. I am almost 13 weeks and so excited to be done with the first trimester. I am due on Valentine's Day. To be completely honest, this has been a pretty rough summer for me. I have had nausea throughout the days and nights. My energy was depleted because of not eating and the hormone changes sent me through a loop. I was not expecting this as my pregnancy with Roman was great. We are so thankful for a healthy pregnancy thus far though and are looking forward to the future. Roman is super excited and he is convinced it is a girl. We will see!
We spent a beautiful week in the Outer Banks with my brother and his family. It was so nice to be with family. The Outer Banks are gorgeous and we will definitely be going back. Unfortunately I was not feeling good while we were there but I did get to enjoy some beach time and I even got away for a little bit with my nieces for a pedicure. Roman had so much fun playing with his cousin Brooke. He enjoyed flying kites, swimming in the pool, collecting shells, and he even was brave to go in the ocean a little. He kept saying, "I am being brave!"
We spent a weekend in Baltimore with our friends to celebrate their daughter's Baptism. It was super hot in the old, Catholic church but it was a joy to share in this special event with them. Roman did great and sat quietly throughout the service. Rick was the God Father and we are so blessed to have such wonderful friends. Roman loves his little girlfriend Elisa.
After Baltimore, Roman and I continued on a trek to New York. This was unexpected but I wanted to get a change of scenery and needed some good, old, home cooking from Mom. It was a nice relaxing week there and Mom was great taking care of me. Roman enjoyed playing with his cousins as always, playing on 'Grammy's playground', driving Tractor Poppy's tractor, baking apple pie, picking fresh lettuce out of the garden, and playing with the new kitten, Lewis. I enjoyed a nice dinner with my brother, sister in law, and niece. My parents took Roman and I out to a nice, little lunch. We were also able to attend my two nieces birthday parties. We are never home for those things so it was nice to be around family and enjoy some of these fun times. I bought some apple cider donuts while home. These are so delicious and just one of those things you need to get when you go there. It's the small things in life that can bring such a big smile to your face and a warm feeling in your heart. My aunt and cousin were in town from Texas. It was nice to see them as we have not seen each other in about 9 years. Overall, it was a nice trip and I am so glad to have the family I do. They are wonderful and I miss them everyday.
Although I feel like I have spent the summer on the couch feeling awful, I know there has been some fun things going on. Roman and I have enjoyed going to the summer movies on Tuesday mornings, library time, morning walks, baking muffins, indoor playgrounds, and our newest activity puppet shows. There is a short little video of Roman's first puppet show. He was so excited about it but he kept saying I do it better than he does.
He has been so curious about everything. He wants to know what every word means and he will then continue to use it. He loves to use the word ridiculous. It is pretty funny. If he doesn't know what a word means, he will ask if it is a good word. He is learning that some words are not good and nice to use. I am so glad that he is concerned about using only the good words.
He has been doing good with staying in his bed at night. It does take some threats to have something taken away from him the next day but it is working. His mattress is now on the floor as he likes this better. He really needs a bigger bed but we are holding out a little longer until we get the nursery set up for this new baby. Transitions are slowly starting to happen and new beginnings are coming.
I am about to return back to school. I am kind of looking forward to the routine again and I know Roman misses Ms. Lora and his friends. We are also going to be celebrating our 7th anniversary on Saturday. I have a wonderful husband and I look forward to many more years with him. It is so comforting to know that you are with someone who you know that whatever life throws your way, you will get through it together. Hopefully we will take after my parents who celebrated their 47th anniversary and are still in love.
Next week my brother and his family will be here for a couple of days. We always look forward to their visits. This will be my last week of summer vacation. I am not one to wish time away and I am usually very positive but I am happy summer is coming to an end. This has been a rough one and I am looking forward to the new beginnings from here on out!!!

Summer Fun!

We started off the summer with celebrating Father's Day with the best dad in the world. This is what Roman says about Rick. Rick also was able to attend a golf tournament for the lung transplant foundation. He enjoyed getting out and hitting some balls as he doesn't get to do this very often. This foundation is very close to our hearts as our neighbor received a double lung transplant. Unfortunately our friend is no longer with us but his memory will always be in our hearts.
I have enjoyed my time off this summer with Roman. We have built birdhouses, dug in the dirt, visited the pool, and many games of super heroes. He is very sweet and loving and will say the nicest things. On the other hand, he can be very defiant and push for what he wants. It has definitely been a challenge this summer balancing the discipline and play time. Every summer I am reminded that being a parent is harder than any job out there.
I babysat a neighbor for a couple of weeks. It was nice for Roman to have someone to play with. We went to many parks, dollar summer movies, and the library. I have kept myself very busy with keeping up with Roman, cleaning the house, and breaking up fights between Roman and Mango.
We had a good fourth of July weekend. We went to fireworks on Saturday night. Roman enjoyed them but they lasted too long for him and he got bored. I guess that means it was a good show. On Sunday, Rick's mom and step dad came down to spend the rest of the long weekend with us. Roman always enjoys having them in town. We enjoyed doing some small fireworks and sparkles in the yard. Thanks to our neighbors, we did not have to go anywhere on Monday for the fireworks. They put on quite a show of fireworks. Thanks!
We also celebrated Rick's birthday on the 6th. We went out for ice cream and Roman made him the cutest card. Roman has started drawing people and things-still very abstract but getting much better. He drew daddy and a birthday cake. Make sure to see it on our photos. He is so proud of his drawings.
We are getting ready to go to the Outer Banks next week. We will be there with my brother and his family. I am so excited to spend some time with family and get a change of scenery for awhile. This is a big trip for them as my niece has graduated from high school. I can't believe how they are all growing up so fast. I will also get to see my newest great niece.
Roman's sayings this month have included. "It sure is...", and "I have the best family in the whole world!" He is also questioning every word and sentence he hears that he doesn't understand. He wants to know what everything means.

Blenders, Boo Boo's, & Best Buds

Well, summer is here and we are feeling the heat in Raleigh. We have had some adventures this past month. The blender has been used for those yummy summer drinks already and boo boo's have appeared on knees to show the evidence of summer play outside.
Rick went on a guys weekend trip to Charlotte. They attended the Nascar All Star Race. Unfortunately Jimmy did not win but Rick did get his picture next to his car. I know he had a great time. While he was away, Nana was here for a visit. We enjoyed some pool time, shopping, and going out to eat. We came across a Family Fun Day at a local shopping center. We enjoyed free ice cream, balloons from the clown, and games. Roman was unsure of the clown at first but after she made him a motorcycle out of balloons, he said, "She is not so bad." Nana was also able to watch Roman in his last session of T-ball for the season. He was awarded a medal. He was so proud of himself. We will give him a break over the summer and he will start again in the Fall.
Roman has made a new best bud. Our neighbor and Roman have been playing together a lot. Roman is always looking for him out the window. It is so cute watching them play. It is such a neat experience to watch your child become friends with someone and see how they interact. Roman calls him his best friend and he even has woken up in the middle of the night asking to go to his house.
One of our dear friends as moved out of town for medical reasons. It was sad to say good bye but it was great having them around while they were here. These friends have truly shown us the power of love and have kept such a great attitude towards life through all the ups ad downs. We love them and miss them!
Roman went to the dentist for the first time. He was unsure at first but he watched me go first. He then had his turn. He was such a good boy and they even gave him some cool glasses to wear. He had a clean bill of health and we will go back in 6 months.
The pool has opened and the Przygoda's have already spent a significant amount of time there. Roman beat his record as we were there for 6 1/2 hours one day. He was so good and enjoyed himself. Sunscreen is our new best friend. We look forward to many more days at the pool this summer.
Roman got a brand new bike. He is still a little too short to ride it but he was so excited when he saw it. He said, "Mom, I wanted one of these." This has been a common line of his. Every time he sees something or hears something, he will say, "Mom, I told you that." Another thing he said that I thought was hilarious was-"Hokey, Dokey Meomi (Naomi)". This was his response when I had told him something. He thought it was funny and he died laughing at himself.
We have enjoyed sunny days at the park and picking strawberries. Roman still needs to learn which are the good ones.
I was able to enjoy a relaxing 24 hour trip to the Beach with a friend. It was a great time and I feel so lucky to have some great people in my life.
Mango will be 5 on June 10th. She is still a little firecracker. She is finally starting to bond with Roman and they will snuggle together on the couch. When we told Roman is was going to be her birthday, he said, "Are her friends coming over to sing to her and will Mommy make her a birthday dog cake?" Well, we will probably sing to her but there is no chance I am making her a cake:)
I have 2 days left of school. The excitement that I feel is overwhelming that there are no words to describe it. They only thing I can say is bring on the summer-I need a break! I will not be working this summer so I am super excited to hang out with Roman and just be a mom.

Chickens, Chocolate, and Chilly Weather

As the weather was getting warmer here, Roman and I headed North. We spent our spring break in the CHILLY state of New York. We were even blessed to see some snow flurries and enjoyed the frost on the car one morning. Despite the weather being chilly and rainy, we had a fun time visiting with our family. I am blessed that I was not home during the tornadoes. We are sad for those who lost their homes but grateful for our safety. Roman even got to help feed the chickens on Poppy's farm and ride the tractor. While we were there, there was a new arrival to the farm-a baby goat. It was scared but apparently liked Roman and came right up to him. Roman enjoyed playing with all his cousins, going out to lunch, making sushi with my brother's family, playing in dog kennels with Turner, and having Nerf gun fights with the boys. I even got to go out to dinner one night with my sister in law (Uncle Shell-as Roman calls her) to see just how well of a waitress my niece was. She was great! Roman enjoyed baking an apple pie with Grammy which he was so excited about doing for weeks. He wouldn't eat any of it though:) He did enjoy her home made chicken noodle soup though. He ate a whole bowl. We were all very impressed as he is a very picky eater. I can't believe how fast all my nieces and nephews are growing up. I miss them. Even though we are miles away, I think of them everyday and hold dear every moment I get to spend with them. I was a super mom and drove all the way back home by myself in one day. It was a long trip but Roman did great. We had a fun time in the car. He called it the party car. I would play music and use different objects as my microphone. He thought it was hilarious. The things we do to keep the kids entertained. We were happy to be back home as we missed Daddy very much.
We went downtown where Roman participated in an Easter egg hunt. He was pretty grumpy when he woke up on Easter morning but we finally convinced him to look for his Easter basket. He thought it was funny that the bunny hid it in his grocery cabinet. Thank God he doesn't like CHOCOLATE so there was very little candy in the basket. We then enjoyed an amazing service at church and came home to a yummy roast in the crock pot. It was a good weekend! Roman is still telling us the Easter story of Jesus.
Babies are still coming among our friends. Our friends recently had another little girl and several others we know are pregnant. It is amazing to see all these miracles take place.
Some of Roman's funny things this past month are: He says 1, 2, 3, Rock before he starts singing. He loves to sing and hum. Also, during our grocery shopping trip, he would say the item that was put in the cart and than say check! It was pretty funny. I don't know where he comes up with these things. He also says, Are you kidding me?
Some of the struggles with him this month are talking back and coming in our bed at night. He is going to bed much better and not getting out of bed but just like clock work, around 2 am he comes in our bed. I have let it go because I just want to sleep. He crawls in bed and we all sleep peacefully. I guess I will tackle this later. He will talk back and repeat what you say to him. We are being consistent with telling him no and that it is rude. He is slowly getting it. There is always something when parenting. It is a struggle to know what and how to do things right but we are learning to be consistent and things will work themselves out. Parenting is truly the hardest job out there. We are given the responsibility to raise a child to become a good citizen with all these great qualities. It is a huge task but with God's help and guidance we make it happen.
Things at school are going to be busy as we are starting to wrap up the last few weeks of school. We have 28 days left. I am not counting though:) I am looking forward to the summer and all the fun activities we have planned.
Rick continues to be healthy and he is becoming quit the 'cut' guy. He is working out many times a week and I am blessed to have him by my side.
Before I leave you, I want to let you in on my new hobby. I have started couponing. Yes, it is addicting and with my 'OCD' tendencies...I have started looking at things a whole new way. I am not extreme like the TV show and I only buy what we will use. I am mastering the art though and so far I have saved so much! With the last two shopping trips, I have saved 65% of what I would of spent just using my coupons. I have arranged my pantry (once again) for all the items. My pantry makes me smile when I open the doors. Yes, I am crazy but I am tired of spending our hard earned money when I know I can save by taking a few extra minutes to find the deals.

April Showers Bring May Flowers!

So far Spring has been very busy. We took a long weekend trip to Baltimore to visit our friends who recently had a baby. She is adorable and Roman was such a big friend to her. We are so happy for them to join us on this journey of parenthood. On this trip we discovered that Roman tends to get car sickness. We had to make a stop to buy some Dramamine. It worked, thank God!
We had Rick's mom in town where we enjoyed some shopping, visiting a local fire station with Roman and we were able to introduce her to the world of Sushi. Which by the way, Rick and I have become huge fans. I have even ventured into making it myself. I have made it twice now and it is becoming one of my hobbies. I never thought I would eat raw fish. It is so yummy though.
We went to the Farmer's Market where we purchased fresh strawberries. This is one of our favorite places to go in the nice weather. We have taken many walks as the weather has given us some beautiful days. Roman has started a new session of T-ball and he is doing a good job. He misses his old coach though. He says," I don't like Coach Billy, Coach Jon is cool." Oh well, he does well and is definitely the littlest boy in the group.
Unfortunetely I attended a memorial service for my friend's husband. It was a reminder that life is so short and you never know when it will end. I am living everyday as it is my last and am enjoying everything that comes my way.
Rick and I have joined a small group at church. It is nice to have a group to discuss our spiritual walk and discover God together. Our church has grown so big and it is nice to get to know some people. It was so nice to sit in the back of church and not have people know you. I grew up having everyone know me as I was the pastor's daughter. Well, we have grown spiritually and would like to share it with others so we now get together every other Sunday. We are blessed!
Rick's mom and step dad came back this past weekend. They were great babysitters and took Roman to see his second movie-Gnomio and Juliet. He loved it and sat through the whole thing. I know this as he came in our room at 3:30 in the morning and said, "Mom, it was a good movie." Speaking of coming in our room in the night, this has become a frequent occurrence. Roman tends to sleep so much better in our bed. I don't really like it but all that matters at this point is that we all get some sleep. He has also been giving us a hard time of going to bed at night. He gets up several times before actually falling asleep. This is just one more battle to tackle and yes, this too shall pass. While they were here, Rick and I attended Ryan and Andrea's wedding. It was so nice and we are celebrating with them as they take this new step in their lives. Congrats, we love you guys!
One story that I am not proud of as a parent but feel the need to write it so I will always remember it is that Roman is known as the neighborhood streaker. Yes, he escaped the house and ran down the sidewalk buck naked in his rain boots. That is the only detail I am going to give but looking back at it, it is hilarious. Thank God we have some great neighbors who were able to laugh with us.
Roman is always talking about what he wants to be when he grows up. You never know what it will be. He wants to be anything from Spiderman to a school bus. We just tell him that he can be whatever he wants to be.
I am looking forward to my spring break next week. Roman and I will be headed to NY to visit family. We will make a stop in Baltimore to break up the trip. I miss my family and I know Roman is looking forward to playing with his cousins and running around on Tractor Poppy's farm. After that, there is only 7 weeks left of school before summer. YIPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

Keeping the Faith Still!

Well, this month has had it's challenges just like the last. We have been faced with some unexpected bumps in the road but through it all we have kept the faith and are reminded that God is STILL in control and he has a plan for our lives. Our path in life is being prepared and we sometimes have to take a detour from the way we were going. The bumps in the road are getting smoothed out and we are continuing on our journey with God as our driver. We sometimes have to be shakin' up a little to get to where we need to be. It is never good to become too comfortable because you never know when you will be forced in a different direction than you thought.
This month has also been filled with many joys. We took Roman to the circus and at first he was not sure about it. He put his fingers in his ears and said it was too loud. As soon as he saw the clowns climbing out of the small car all dressed up in Superhero costumes, he was finally convinced that it was a pretty cool show. We completed our taxes and are looking forward to spending our money on our summer vacation. We have attended a few parties this month-Holden's 2nd birthday, Superbowl/Matt's birthday party, Daytona 500 party, Andrea's bridal shower, Liz'a baby shower, and Chase's first birthday. I had a girl's weekend to the spa. We went to Greensboro and stayed at the Grandover Hotel. It was so relaxing and we celebrated Andrea's upcoming wedding. We also celebrated my 31st birthday. Rick was so sweet and had flowers sent to work. I felt very special. My gift this year was a new Iphone. I am in love and Roman even had to tell me to put it away one night. I was also able to take Roman to a horse barn where he enjoyed seeing horses. He found one that was a Superman Horse (it had on a black mask and red blanket). He wasn't into petting them but he enjoyed seeing them. Roman continues to go to baseball and he loves it. We signed him up for another session and we hope the Yankees will be there to scout him out.
Roman has been learning so much. He is learning some Spanish words. He will quiz me on the words he has learned. He has said some pretty funny things this last month. Here are a few: "Mom, that tree has pickles (prickles) on it." While Rick was getting him dinner, he said, "Food coming right up!" He had me tell him what kind of truck he saw and I told him it was a UPS truck delivering packages. He said, "Why is that a letter truck?" We were playing outside riding his 4 wheeler (monster truck) and a little boy came over to see it. He was afraid to ride it. Roman said, "Jesus says don't be scared." He came down the stairs the other night after being put to bed and he was crying. We asked him what was wrong and he said, "I had a hard day." He continues to be naked often and when you ask him where his clothes are, he says, "Roman doesn't wear clothes." He referes to himself in the third person often and he prefers to be called Super Roman when he is naked. He will also do the naked cowboy dance. It is quite hilarious. While Rick was napping one afternoon, he told me, "Mom, Dad needs a nap because he had a hard day."
Our best friends had a baby girl this past month. We would like to welcome Elisa Elizabeth. We are so happy to have her here and we look forward to meeting her in a couple of weeks.
I would like to dedicate this blog to our childcare provider Lora. We are so blessed to have her in our lives and we couldn't of asked for a better place for Roman to be. She is an amazing woman and she has impacted Roman's life beyond any words that I could write. We love you!

As most of you know, Rick and I were blessed to become pregnant again. Unfortunately God had a different plan and the pregnancy did not go well. During an ultrasound, no heartbeat was detected. This has been a tough week with this loss but we are comforted in the fact that we know God is in control and he has a plan for our lives. Heaven is a little brighter now and I look forward to meeting that baby one day. We are encouraged to try again and Roman WILL be a big brother soon. During all of this, I have been reminded that I am not in control and there are bigger plans for my life. My faith has been made stronger and I am a better person for it. I am so thankful for all my wonderful friends and family who have given us much support through this. I know many woman have gone through this but it is still not something to take lightly. Rick has been awesome and I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful husband to go through this life with. I have been so encouraged just to see Roman and know that we already have a beautiful, healthy son and he has been a source of strength. He is so amazing and fills my heart with joy. There is a photo of him holding a sign saying that he will be a big brother. I am not removing this from the post as it was a special moment for us and those words will be true one day. The expression on his face was priceless, even though he had no clue what he was doing. He just did what I told him to do. It's too cute to delete so I hope you enjoy it.
We have had some fun times in the last few weeks. Rick and I were able to go to a Hockey game with some friends. Roman has enjoyed going to baseball on Saturday mornings. Last weekend we enjoyed a nice lunch downtown and checked out the venues at the NHL fan fest. We have a lot of upcoming events (showers, birthdays, Superbowl, Daytona 500 party, Valentine's Day), and most importantly my birthday. Roman keeps reminding me that he will sing to me on my birthday and that I am going to get a new train. He says he wants me to get a new train so he can play with it. Got to love that kid.
Roman had his 3 year checkup and he has grown-very little. He is in the 10% but I am enjoying it as he still fits in my lap and I can cradle him. He has been very conscious of using his manners. He will remind you to use your manners if you don't. Another new thing for him is using public restrooms. He always asks if it is clean before we go in. I have to assure him that it is...he will still complain of the smell though.
Well, I hope you all are encouraged. Just know that whatever you go through, there is always light at the end of the tunnel. We will never be faced with things we can not handle and there is someone out there looking out for us. Keep the faith!

Roman Turns 3!

We ended the year with a great Christmas party with friends. We enjoyed having Nana and Poppy down with us for Christmas. Roman was spoiled as always. It was nice watching him enjoy the holidays and really start grasping what they are all about. Roman received a battery operated Four Wheeler and Motorcycle. He loves riding them and is becoming quite the dare devil. We started a new tradition this Christmas. Charlie the elf came to stay with us. Roman would look for him every morning and Charlie would report to Santa at night about Roman's behavior. It was sad when Charlie went away for the year. Roman has said he misses Charlie. What a surprise it will be when Charlie shows up again next year. During this winter we have also enjoyed some snow. Thank God Roman has always received a snow suit. Who would of thought we would of needed one living in the south.
Roman started t-ball this month. He has done pretty well with it. He loves his Coach and tells me that he listens. I am glad we get to expose him to a team sport at such a young age.
Rick has endured some more health issues and lots of doctor visits. He had a CAT scan and a sleep study which revealed that he does have sleep apnea. He now sleeps with a machine at night giving him air. It is working well and he is getting good rest. He has also received ear tubes but still struggling with ear infections. Hopefully we will get this taken care of. He is on his way though. We purchased an elliptical so we have turned the loft into a home gym. It is nice not to have to leave the house to work out. I am continuing to run and hopefully will run in a few races this year.
We had some good friends over for New Years Eve. We played Wii and watched the ball drop while eating some good food. Roman happened to wake up right in time and got to see the ball drop. Thank God I was able to get him back to sleep and we all got a good night's sleep.
Roman had a wonderful birthday with friends. The theme this year was dinosaurs. He has learned so much about them. We had a pinata and all. Mommy made the cake and he loved it. Nana and Poppy were also able to come down for the party which Roman greatly appreciated. Just so we are all on the same page, Rick's mom and step dad are Nana and Poppy. My parents are Grammy and Tractor Poppy. This is how we distinguish between the two. Roman will correct you too if you say the wrong one. My parents were not able to make it as my mom had a knee replacement. We missed having them but we will visit them in April.
As I stated in my last post Roman was having trouble waking up early. We purchased a sleep clock. It worked for awhile but it is now in the drawer. Roman did not like it and it became more of a battle than anything. He would get out of bed and close it. He is now getting up early sometimes but he now just comes in our bed and sleeps longer. We are fine with this as sleep is the number one priority right now.
Roman has really become a little helper. He wants to help with everything. He has to push all the buttons on the microwave and help cut his food. He loves to be in the kitchen with me. He has taken on the chore of feeding the dog. It is hilarious to listen to him doing this as he repeats everything we have said to Mango while feeding her. He also has started using the bathroom all by himself. We are not allowed in the bathroom while he goes. He has to close the door as well. But, he does still call, "Mommy, wipe my butt." I guess I am still needed some. I am also not allowed to flush the toilet or put the seat down. He says that is the boys job. I have trained him well:)
Here are some funny things that Roman has said this past month:
"People, learn to drive."
"Superman does not wear pampers to bed." (He said this because we still have him wear one at night.)
"Gym stinky, someone poopy there." (He said this on the way to t-ball at the indoor sports complex.)
"Mommy, tell them I am potty trained." (He said this on the way to church.)
Roman has read his first book. Well, he memorized his first book. It is the Ear Book. He is so proud of himself when he does it. He is also still really into Superheros. He is always one of them at that is what we have to call him. We even get to be a superhero also. The other night after I put him to bed, I heard him singing Happy Birthday to Spiderman. Love it!
Well, Roman has been a little under the weather the last couple of days. We had his 3 year check up today where I was made out to be a liar. I told him they would not hurt him and it would be ok. They ended up spending 15 minutes poking his finger to get enough blood for his cholesterol test. It was a nightmare and he will never want to go back to the doctor again. All in all he was very brave. He is 28 lbs. and 36 inches tall. He is on the small size. We looked in our baby books and he is right in between what Rick and I were at his age. It is neat to look back and see how he compares to us.

Snow, Sleep, and School!

Winter is officially here. BRRRRR!!!! It has been so cold. We even had snow already. Roman was so excited when he saw the snow falling. We were walking out the door to go play and he ran to the refrigerator. I asked what he was doing and he said, 'I get carrot for the snowman nose.' There wasn't enough snow for a snowman but we did manage to make a snowman head. The carrot came in quite handy. He is such a smart boy. He had been telling us that snow was coming because the leaves were all gone. During this little snow fall, we went to a local farm and visited Santa. Roman was so excited whenever we would talk about going to see him. As we were walking towards him I could see Roman was getting nervous and realized that all the talk about Santa was coming to pass. He would not sit on his lap but he did give him a high five and tell him what he wanted. He also told him all about Charlie. Who is Charlie you might ask? Well, we have started this tradition called Elf on the Shelf. There is this book that explains how an elf comes to your house and watches you and reports to Santa when you are asleep. Every morning you have to search for him. Sometimes he even leaves presents. One night the doorbell rang and we had Roman answer it. There on the door mat was the book with the elf. Roman named him Charlie and the tradition began. It is helping us out with behavior and it brings more fun to the Christmas season.
Well, let me back up a little and talk about our Thanksgiving. We were happy to have my brother and his family with us for Thanksgiving. We of course fried our turkey. As we were sitting down to eat we realized that we forgot the cranberry sauce and stuffing. Can you believe we had Thanksgiving without stuffing. Oh well, the rest was delicious and we had wonderful company to share it with. My nephew Turner and Roman were like two peas in a pod. They were great buddies all weekend and Roman loves his cousin. Thanksgiving morning my sister in law Michele, my niece Rylee, and myself ran in the 5K Turkey Trot. I beat my time and I was also very proud of Rylee and Michele as it was there first race. I want to give kudos to Rylee for passing her drivers test on the first time. Great job and we are very proud of you. It is amazing our fast the kids grow up.
Rick is finally getting some good rest with his cpap machine. He is feeling restful and I get to sleep with a husband who no longer snores. The only problem now, Roman is waking our peaceful sleep very early in the morning. We have tried many different things to get him to stay in bed longer but nothing is working yet. I have ordered a sleep clock so I will let you know next month how that goes. Wish us luck!
This past month I had a cookie bake with some friends and enjoyed a date night out with Rick. I even visited a friend who had her baby girl on Thanksgiving. Ella Ruth was beautiful and Roman will be her protector as she will be joining us at Lora's shortly. Even though these adult nights out are few and far between they are so needed. I encourage all of you to get that time. It makes everyone so much happier.
School has been super busy and the kids are definitely keeping me on my toes. I have had the opportunity to learn many new technology skills and have been implementing them in the classroom. I love combining the two-teaching and technology. I am really looking forward to the winter break though.
Roman continues to amaze us with his vocabulary. He says his full name and has also started learning commercials and show songs. He loves to talk about animals and dinosaurs and will categorize just about anything. He has also been such a helper this month. When we go grocery shopping, he loves to put the groceries away. He even took all the toilet paper upstairs and distributed it out to all the bathrooms. I was pretty impressed. He has enjoyed all the recent holidays and is looking forward to Christmas. I am so happy that he has learned the true meaning of Christmas and he gets that it is Jesus' birthday. He tells you the story and tells you that he goes to church. Too funny!
Well, I would like to dedicate this blog to my new niece Ashlyn Love who was born on Thanksgiving to my sister Susie. This makes 18 grandchildren for my parents. WOW! She is beautiful and I can't wait to meet her.

November News!

Fall is our favorite time of the year. One of our traditions is the state fair. Nana was in town and got to enjoy it with us. We ate yummy food, went on a pony ride (Roman did not like it. He said, "Too bumpy".), enjoyed the animals, and dodged the crowd. We also enjoyed the Farmer's Market where we picked pumpkins and bought apples. Pink Lady apples are the best. If you have not tried them, you must!
I participated in a diabetes walk. It is so amazing to see so many come out for one purpose. It is awesome to see what many can do when we work together.
Halloween was a blast for Roman. He understood it all and was so into it. He enjoyed decorating the house and carving pumpkins. We went trick or treating and Roman was such a trooper and kept saying, "Next house now." We went to a Halloween party at our neighbors where Roman won the best children's costume. He was a pirate. We were all pirates. One big happy pirate family. ARG!
Every night we had to walk the neighborhood and look at all the 'scaries' in the trees. When Halloween was over the decorations were taken down. Roman had a complete meltdown. He was so devastated and cried for about 15 minutes with the biggest crocodile tears. I felt so bad. I had to talk to him about how now it is all about the turkey. It was so cool to see how well he understands holidays now. He is growing up so fast.
We took Mango for her yearly check up this past month. Roman did not like when they were checking her. He was very protective of her. They said she needed to lose a few ounces. So yes, Mango is on a diet. Poor girl, I think she misses that Roman doesn't really drop food anymore.
I enjoyed another nice night out with the girls. These nights are so wonderful and refreshing. I wish I could get more of them.
Rick had to go for a sleep study to have his snoring checked out. Those of you who know him, know that this is a HUGE problem. He also went for a cat scan. We are now waiting to see what the doctors have to say so we know where we need to go from here. God I hope they can help him...we are way too young to be sleeping in separate bedrooms.
Some of Roman's new favorite phrases this month are, "Oh Man", "No Way", "I have that"(he says this for every commercial on tv-when you ask him where it is, he says that it is at Poppy's house). His new favorite show is Dino Dan. He loves dinosaurs and pretends that he is a T-Rex all the time. I am pretty sure there is a Dinosaur themed birthday party in the future.
I am continuing to run but am working on my time now. My next race is on Thanksgiving morning called the Turkey Trot. It is only a 5K. I am working towards finishing in a fast time. After that, who knows what I will run. It is so relaxing and the races are addicting. The training is the hard part.
We are looking forward to Thanksgiving. My brother and his family will be in town to spend it with us. We love them so much and love when they come to visit. The turkey will be fried and many laughs will be laughed.
During this month reflect on all the things you are thankful for. We are all so blessed in many ways. I am so thankful for all the wonderful friends and family that are in our life. I thank God for the decisions we have made to get us where we are today. Enjoy the photos from the past month-there are new ones in the October album.

JUST DO IT!

This has been a month of soul searching and realizing that we have so much to give. We started the last month off with a fundraiser/walk for a lung transplant association. Rick volunteered some time on this committee. We know a few people who have had lung transplants and we wanted to support them. They are all fighters and have taught us a lot about living life to the fullest. We are currently working on selling raffle tickets for a free photo shoot. All proceeds go to local and global charities. We were commissioned by our church to take some money and multiply it. We are so blessed to be apart of a wonderful cause. We have asked ourselves, Are we doing all we can and giving back? I will also be walking for diabetes at the end of the month. I have really been feeling the call to JUST DO IT! We all have the ability to give in different capacities. I urge you all to JUST DO IT!
Talking about JUST DO IT! Three months ago I set out on a challenge to run a half marathon. The challenge was tough and took a lot of will power. This past weekend I ran the race and finished in 2 hours and 18 minutes. That was 12 minutes faster than I wanted. I am so proud and the challenge was amazing! I am contemplating to run a full marathon sometime in the future. The race was held in Baltimore so we went up for the weekend and stayed with our friends. I ran with our friend Chris and had a great weekend. When I finished, Roman saw the medal they gave me and said, "Mommy, you win!" It was awesome to hear him say that and I am so proud to show him that you can do whatever you set your mind to.
Early in the month my parents came for a visit. It is always so much fun when Nana and Poppy come for a visit. We went to the farm and enjoyed a hay ride, bounce house, hay bails, pumpkin patch, and corn field. Poppy even bought Roman a new tractor. Poppy is dead set on making this suburban boy a farmer one day:) The one sad thing about living away from family is that Roman asks for them all the time. It breaks my heart to tell him that we can't see them.
Some fun activities that we have enjoyed are apple picking, walks in the park, painting pumpkins and decorating for Halloween. Roman is really into it and he also knows that winter is right around the corner. He says, "Leaves fall down and than snow comes." God, I hope he is wrong, even though I am looking forward to cooler weather after this brutal summer. We have also enjoyed many dinner with friends, welcoming back veterans at the airport, and visiting new babies. It seems that just about everyone we know has recently had a baby or is currently pregnant. I need to be very careful and watch what water I drink:)
Roman is officially potty trained and even standing up. We are so proud of our little man and he makes us smile every moment of the day. OK, that was an exaggeration. There are definitely moments that my smile is upside down but he does make us laugh. We pointed out a police car to him and he said, "Bad guy in back, go to jail. He no have listening ears on." I mean come on, what are you to say to that. Another thing that just puts you in a good mood is his singing. This boy sings all the time. Everything is to the tune of Twinkle, Twinkle. There is nothing better to hear your child sing. He will than look at you and say, "Happy!" He always wants to make sure we are happy. He is so sweet!

Superheroes and Sleepless Nights!

Well, where to begin. Let me first say that this has been one of the most exhausting months of our lives. There has been so much sickness in the Przygoda household and it has taken a toll on us. We all have this horrible cough that will not leave and it is keeping us all up at night. Roman has been waking up several times at night and the last few nights he has just slept in our bed. At least we are able to get a little more sleep that way instead of getting up every couple of hours. Roman and I are finally starting to feel better but poor Rick is still struggling and is actually on his way to the doctor. It is amazing how lack of sleep makes life so much more of a struggle. Hopefully we are on the ups!
School is in full swing and we are back to our routine. Roman is loving being back at Lora's and playing with all his friends. Whenever he gets mad at me, he says that he misses Ms. Lora. I guess he really does love her. It is such a comfortable feeling to know that.
We took a long weekend and went up to Rochester to visit family. It was nice to see everyone and Roman still talks about going to Poppy and Nana's house. He was so good on the plane rides. He had his own seat and he insisted on keeping his seat belt on the whole time and kept saying that we took off and were flying. I was so pleased that he made the trip pleasant.
Roman is just about potty trained and wearing his big boy underwear when we go from one place to the next. He is still wearing his diaper at night but he is telling us when he needs to go. We have used the naked potty training method. When we are home, he is naked and the potty is in the living room. He has been so diligent at going and I can't believe I am just about at the point where I don't need to buy him diapers. He has been so much fun this month (besides the waking up at night). He is so funny with what he says and he is so affectionate. Some of his funniest sentences so far are: "Mommy mad because Daddy take her car." "Mommy eat celery like Ming Ming on Wonder Pets." ( I love that he is making connections-he does this all the time.) "Mommy, Roman sick. I eat buggy's in my tummy." "Don't be scared Mommy, it is just a toy." He has increased his academic skills as he can now count to 15 and tell us his birthday is January 13. Roman has been introduced the the Superhero world and is loving them. He loves to wear his Superman and Batman cape and watch the movies. He has informed us that he has Superman power and will point his finger at us. He has told us that I am Bat Girl, Daddy is Robin, and Mango is Scooby Doo. He got this from a Scooby Doo and Batman movie. He insists most mornings to wear his cape instead of normal clothes. What happened to my GQ boy?
We have enjoyed many trips to the park where Roman is loving feeding the ducks. I was able to have a girls night out where we enjoyed dinner and a movie. I was proud of myself that I was able to 'hang' with the girls and I didn't get home until 1am. Our friends the Jones' welcomed their new addition-their baby girl. She is so cute and we are so happy for them. We enjoyed a nice, long Labor Day weekend. We had some friends over for a low country boil one night. The kids tore the house apart but it was so fun getting together with great people. The next night we hung out with neighbors eating yummy appetizers and sitting by the fire. It has been so nice now that the nights are cooling down. I actually had to wear a sweatshirt the other night. I have been consistent with my running and am looking forward to my race next month.

Toys, Boys, and the Joys of Summer!

Well, my summer vacation is coming to an end. It is very bitter sweet. I have had a lot of fun with Roman this summer but am looking forward to getting back into a routine and I know he misses his friends. This has been another month filled with many joys and laughter. Yes, a few tears were mixed in there as well but that is what life is all about. We are who we are because of all our ups and downs.
Rick and I were so fortunate to be able to take an adult vacation for a week away from Roman. Nana and Poppy came down to watch Roman while we went to Palm Coast, Florida with my brother and sister-in-law. The anticipation of leaving Roman was a little overwhelming and there were tears shed when it was time to say good-bye. I had never left him before and the thought of not being there if he asked for me was hard. I knew he would be in good hands so off we went. To my great surprise, he had a wonderful week-ate much, slept in late, played hard, listened well, and smiled often. While in Florida we enjoyed hanging out at the pool, eating out, visiting Epcot Center for the day, swimming at the beach, and we even got to go moonlight kayaking with the dolphins. It was such a needed trip and I am so thankful for the time I had with Rick. It is confirmed...we are still in love! As we returned home, we flung the door open and Roman's eyes were as big as a full moon. He ran so fast to hug us. The feeling that overwhelmed us was amazing. Even though he had a great week, we realized that he did miss us and that smile on his face let us know that he still needed us. Hence the reason for the song I picked for the blog this month.
We have had many play dates with friends and parties with neighbors. We are so blessed to have many great people in our lives to share these moments with us. Other fun activities that we did this summer were going to the Durham Museum with friends, story time at the library, swimming at the pool, walking around the neighborhood, and watching planes at the airport. One of Roman's favorite things to do is go to Target. Why you may ask? Well, he has learned that mom is a sucker and he will get a surprise. So, he will always ask to go to Target. He says, "Go Target". I say, "Why do you want to go to Target?" He says, "Mom, Target has toys. Roman new blue car." Ok, so I have opened up a can of worms. Hopefully a car for .99 will continue to satisfy him for awhile or I will go broke.
Roman continues to show signs of obsessive behavior like his mother. He lines up all the toys and there is an order to it. You can't even get close to these lines of toys or he yells. He is very detailed oriented and notices everything. There is a video clip to show just how crazy he is when it comes to lining up his toys. Beware, we were not being cruel to him but we wanted to capture the memory of this bizarre, crazy behavior which I know I have passed on to him.
He is becoming very inquisitive and wants to know all. He is asking questions like, Where are we? What are you doing? What is that? He is talking great and continues to work on potty training. He has transitioned to the big potty where he says, "Mommy, hold my shoulders." He pushes really hard to force the pee out. It is hilarious. The other day I was in the bathroom blow drying my hair. He was suppose to be in his playroom. When the hair dryer went off, I heard screaming coming from his bathroom. He had shut himself in there. When I opened the door I could not believe my eyes. There was a whole box of tissues and a roll of toilet paper in the toilet. He said, "Mommy, I had to go potty." Thank God he did not try to flush the toilet.
One obstacle we faced this past month was bath time. Roman went through a little time of hating his bath. He would scream, not sit down, and act fearful. I figured out that he was afraid of the drain. After a couple days of being creative, I came up with an idea. I gave him a turkey baster and paint brush. I told him he had to help mom clean and paint the bathtub. It worked-bath time ever since has been back to normal. A pre-requisite to being a great mom is that you have to be creative and think on your toes. This is actually done on a daily basis.
We just returned from a long weekend in Rochester to be with friends. It was nice to see everyone and Roman had a blast with Nana and Poppy and their dog Lupo. We enjoyed a day out at the Park Ave. Festival and Roman walked about a mile barefoot. He was awesome on the plane rides and insisted on sitting and keeping his seat belt on. I was so proud of him and he made the trip a lot easier.
Well, on July 24th my parents celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. They are a great inspiration to what a truly in love couple should be. I inspire to make that record. Rick and I celebrated our 6th anniversary this month and I love him more and more each year. I am truly blessed to have such a kind, loving, compassionate, hard working, understanding man for my husband. For him to be the father of my child is the icing on the cake.
I am continuing to run and work towards the half marathon in October. It has been super hot this summer but I am persevering and working through it. Rick has been riding his bike and we are both enjoying the outdoors. We are looking forward to the cooler weather as we are pretty done with the heat. I am not sure what is in the air but many of our friends have recently had babies and many more are due to have them. We wish them all well and hope they are making great memories for themselves.

Independence!

Well, I am officially on summer break. I wrapped up my 8th year of teaching and said good bye for the summer. I have enjoyed, like always my time with Roman. Being a stay home mom is so rewarding but a much harder job than any other-and I only have one. We enjoyed having Rick's mom down again for a visit and Roman is finally calling them "Poppy and Nana". We are working on having him distinguish between my parents and Rick's mom and step dad.
We took Roman to his first movie this past month and saw Toy Story 3. He loved it but unfortunately we did not make it through the whole thing. The previews were so long it took up a lot of his "good" attention. Oh well, we look forward to it coming out on Blue Ray.
Roman and I took a road trip up to New York to visit my family. We stopped half way in Baltimore and stayed with friends for a night to get a break. We walked around the park and fed the ducks and enjoyed playing on the playground. The following day we continued our trek and arrived in Berne with minimal complaints from Roman. He enjoyed playing with his cousins, catching frogs, wandering the fields, and watching Poppy drive the tractors. We had some kind of party each night whether it was popcorn, ice cream, or a bonfire. We took some great pictures while we were up there so make sure you check them out. I know Rick enjoyed a break and his independence for the week. It was a great trip and Roman is still talking about it.
We enjoyed taking Roman to his first fireworks show. We went with some friends and we had a great time. While we were there, a man drove his car where he was not suppose to and it happened to be right near us. Needless to say there were lots of police cars and the man was arrested. It was some great entertainment and I am not sure that Roman remembers the fireworks because he just keeps saying, "bad boy take him away." Oh well, hopefully it was a life lesson for him:)
Roman is quite Mr. Independence. His new thing is that he no longer wants us to get him up from his nap. He likes to wake up on his own and walk downstairs by himself. What a change from him screaming for us to come and get him. He also has become very meticulous about how his toys are displayed. He lines up everything and it has an order. If you try to touch it, WATCH OUT! He is so me. It is kind of scary. For those of you who know me, this will be funny. I asked him to put his dirty clothes in the hamper. He threw them in and walked away. As he was walking away he looked over his shoulder and noticed that the pant leg was hanging out over the side of the basket. He had to turn around and go back and fix it. I just stood there with an OH NO feeling. What have I created? He will make a great husband some day.
Roman has a newly decorated bedroom. We turned it into a big boy's room. Mom even painted a little mural for him on the wall. He loves his new room and I can't believe I no longer have a nursery.
He is singing his ABC's, counting to 10, and he has recently learned that is birthday is in January. We love watching him grow and he is quite the entertainment. He brings joy to us every day.
Well, in a few weeks Rick and I will be off to Florida for a week without Roman. I am looking forward to a week of Independence for myself although I know I will miss him tons.

Bitter Sweet Month!

This month we have had many ups and downs. We have definitely thought a lot about life and just how precious it is. Our good friend Dave and his family were in town for a few weeks. They were here to be with his father who was at Duke battling brain cancer. Unfortunately he passed away during their stay. His memories will live on and his family are in our thoughts and prayers as they start a new journey in their lives. It was wonderful to see Dave and his family even under the circumstances. Life is so short and we wish we could be with our friends more often. We also had some friends in town from Baltimore and it was a great weekend catching up and enjoying each other's company.
This past month had also brought a scary moment for our family. At a routine visit to the doctor, a lump was found in me. They had it removed and thank God it was clean. Thank God I am healthy and I feel blessed to be healthy and I look forward to many more happy, healthy years. It was a long and stressful couple of weeks but we knew we were in God's hands and we would not be faced with anything we could not handle. Life is so precious and I want to live each day to the fullest.
On a much more happier note, we enjoyed many fun activities this month. Roman's friend Zoe turned one and we had a great time at her luau party. We attended a cook out with some friends from work where Roman was the center of attention.
We have enjoyed the summer weather and the pool finally opened. Roman is enjoying the water and mommy has got a good start to her tan. He asks to go to the pool everyday. Even though I don't think he understands when I say we will go another day, it seems to suffice. We have also had many cook outs and have hung out with neighbors. We have been playing corn hole and I have to say, I am not too bad. I definitely have a competitive spirit in case you did not know.
Roman is quite the funny guy. He has started calling us by our first names. He will yell for Rick instead of Dad when he wants him. It is pretty funny. He will also refer to himself in the third party often. He refers to himself as a 'big boy' and will show you his muscles. The other day he was in the bathroom with me (I never get to go alone anymore). He praised me and said, "Yeah, Mommy- go pee pee." He than flushed the toilet and said, "bye, bye pee pee". He makes me laugh. Too bad he won't pee on the potty for me. He obviously has much better things to do. He does love to be naked though. We still catch him trying to get naked often. He is starting to learn the dinosaur names and triceratops and t-rex are the two he already knows. It is so amazing how much they learn and remember. Roman has also decided to become a weather man. He will forecast the weather every morning. These are the forecasts for the last week-'Rain storm', 'Rain clouds', 'thunder-boom', 'hot outside', and 'cold'. Thanks to Mother Nature, all these situations have happened in the last week. He is not too bad at predicting the weather. We no longer have a baby. We are parents of a toddler. Where has the time gone?
This past weekend we dog sat for a friend and Roman loved him. Mango on the other hand was not too thrilled to have another dog come into her world and steal the attention. It was a great relaxing weekend with beautiful weather. It was very hard to go back to work. Thank God I only have 6 days of school left.
We have many fun activities planned for the summer. Roman and I will be going to New York at the end of the month. I know Roman will have a blast playing with all his cousins at Grammy and Poppy's farm. It will be the first time I drive up there alone. Thank God for our friends in Baltimore who will let us stop for a break. Hopefully Daddy will get some relaxing time and enjoy some 'alone' time. I am sure there is a beach trip or two in the plans. Roman loves his sandbox so I am sure he will be overwhelmed with the beach. He will have an endless supply of sand and the great thing is, I won't have to clean up after him.
Well, I know this was a bitter sweet blog entry but this is our story and I want to remember all the events who have made us who we are today. Each and every second in our life plays a role in the rest of our lives. The only thing we can do is make sure to enjoy every moment and be thankful for all that we have.

Great Days In May!

This past month has been filled with much relaxation. We did very little this past month and spent most of it hanging out at home and enjoying each other's company. We have enjoyed the beautiful southern weather. The flowers are blooming, the grass is green and the sprinkler has already been put to use.
I was able to attend the Southern Woman's Show with some good friends where we found some fun 'girly' things. It was my first time attending and it turned me into a shopaholic for the day. I also enjoyed an evening out with the girls for our monthly night out. It is always nice to get together with the girls and forget about life...for a little while anyways.
We have been taking Roman to the library where the last time we went, he insisted on getting just about every book he could find about buses. He gets mad in the car when we don't see one when we are driving. I finally got him to understand that the library is a quiet place. Now whenever we walk in, he tells everyone, "shhhhh"!
I think Rick has had Nascar on too much in the house. Roman will now take all his cars and tip them over and say, "crash"! I think Roman is going to be a little 'suburb red neck'. He can already recognize Jimmy Johnson's car.
He is talking in 3 to 4 word sentences now and is super sweet to Mommy and Daddy. Another new thing he is doing is that he will hug himself and say, "scared" everytime he hears a loud noise or sees a bug. It is funny how kids pick up on little things and will keep doing it. The phases they go through are entertaining.

We went strawberry picking and Roman filled a bucket in under 10 minutes. He was real fast. Unfortunetely, he did not get the concept that they had to be red. I then had to go through and take out all the green ones. There was no way I was paying for those. It was a great experience for him and I am so glad I can pass on the traditions to him that I always enjoyed doing as a child.
I can't believe summer is right around the corner. I only have 20 days left of school and I am looking forward to my first summer not working. I am sure Roman will keep me quite busy though.
This past weekend we had some great friends in town visiting. We took some long walks, ate lunch out, laughed, and enjoyed each other's company. They made my Mother's Day weekend wonderful. The best part about Mother's Day was when Roman came up to me and said, "Mommy, I you baby!" He than kissed and hugged me. I just love that kid. One day this past week, it was pretty hot outside. Roman insisted that he was cold so he put on his winter hat and gloves when he went outside. I think he realized that is wasn't really cold, they come off in about 20 seconds. You know I would not pass up this opportunity for a picture.
One last thing that I would like to share about Roman is that he has decided he wants to be a nudist. We found him completely naked, sound asleep in his room about 2 o'clock in the morning. Rick happened to get up for something and checked on him. This is how he found him. We left him because we did not want to wake him. The good thing, he woke up and the bed was dry in the morning. This is hysterical because he is always trying to take his clothes off. He will try to hide in a corner and try to get them off before I find him. I just wonder what kids think sometimes???
Mango is actually going to make the blog this month. She had a little accident when jumping off the couch the other day. She landed just right on her paw and broke a nail. Yes, blood was everywhere and Rick went right into action. We got the bleeding under control and Daddy gave her much comfort. She is doing much better now after limping around for a few days. She is getting back to normal with barking at every sound she hears and peeing whenever she gets excited. Welcome Back Mango!
All in all this month has been pretty low key but still memories were made that will never be forgotten.

Spring is Here!

Holy Hotness! Spring has come with some very HOT weather down here in the south. I am not complaining because I love it but way to ease us in Mother Nature. The pollen is falling and there is a yellow dusting on just about everything outside. Spring has definitely sprung and the sandals are officially being worn.
We had a great visit with Grandma Moyers(NaNa) this past month. While she was visiting, we went to Marbles Museum once again and Roman was so much more intrigued and enjoyed all the hands on activities. We have enjoyed days at the park and taking in all the beauty that surrounds us.
I attended a 40th birthday party for a friend and boy was it RAD. We dressed in style from the 80's. It's funny how it was not that difficult to find clothing or accessories. Fashion always comes back around in full circle. Just wait...dresses and bonnets will be next.
We celebrated Easter in New York and it was so wonderful to see friends and family again. Roman was a trooper with all the traveling and the grumpiness on the car ride was minimal. We stopped in Baltimore half way to visit friends and for a break. We then continued on our trek to Syracuse where we stayed with Rick's Aunt and Uncle. A lot of Rick's family came over and we enjoyed each other's company. The boys colored eggs and played basketball. It was such beautiful weather all week long. We traveled to Albany a few days later to visit my family. We enjoyed service at my father's new church and then we had a yummy dinner at my parents. Thanks Mom-your cooking rocks! All the cousins had a blast painting Easter eggs, catching frogs and snakes, riding bikes, playing baseball, and participating in an Easter egg hunt. Poppy gave tractor rides and later in the evening, a football game. Yes, I even made a touchdown. Who says girls can't play football? It is always sad to say good bye but what a wonderful feeling when you walk into your house and know that you are HOME!
Roman is starting to talk in sentences and he is understood by most. He likes to say, 'Go that way!' when you are driving, ''Why?' when you tell him to do something, and 'Owls in there' when you drive by a forest. He loves to say owl and make a Whoooo sound. He will point to the woods and say that they are in there. When you ask him when they come out, he will say 'night'. I only said that once to him in passing and he remembered it. It is amazing how they are little sponges and learn so quickly. His other new thing is while he is playing, he will point and say, 'mess'. I wonder if I have said that word too much? He definitely takes after me and wants things tidy and put back in the right spot. I have created a monster and Rick is out numbered. Now, don't get me wrong. I am all about making messes-they are fun to make. But...the messes are always cleaned up. You know what they say, Cleanliness is next to Godlines:).
I am so glad many of you keep up with us and the happenings in our household. It is hard being away but I hope you feel that this is our way to make you a part of our home and our family. We love you all and hope you are enjoying the start to a beautiful spring season.

March Madness!

As I look back at the blogs I have written, it sounds as if we live such a wonderful, perfect life. It made me think long and hard about our life and what it is really like. I have come to the conclusion that the good always outweighs the bad. Thank God we don't have too much drama in our lives here but we do have 'bad days' as we all do. Thinking about all this has made me come up with a theory...Remembering and focusing on the positives makes for a happier home. Ok, enough with all this evaluation of my blog. Here is the dirt about what we have been up to for the past month.
Rick was not able to be home for Valentine's Day so we celebrated a few days late. His gift this year was a jar full of 365 reasons why we love him. Everyday for the next year, he will pick one out. This has been an amazing thing because he gets reminders of all the little things that are great about him and I had the opportunity to remind myself of just how wonderful he is while writing all the reasons. The process was long but great for the marriage.
We have had some fun nights with friends eating dinner, playing Wii, and enjoying each other's company. We are so blessed to have such wonderful friends to walk through life with.
We have continued to run, bike ride, play at the park, and enjoy the beautiful weather that the south has to offer. However, we have had more snow this year that I have ever seen since we moved here. Once again our Spring Break is cut short due to the fact that we have snow days to make up. We are excited about the Spring weather coming and getting outside more to enjoy the elements.
I had the opportunity to run in an 8K. It was an amazing experience and I can now say, that I love running and have become a 'running girl'. I am already looking forward to the next race I can run in. We have signed up for the Baltimore Half Marathon in October and this will be one thing I will be able to check off of my bucket list. Speaking of bucket list...I have made one. I decided that I wanted to be more aware of what I want to do and things I want to accomplish in my lifetime. I have it hung on my fridge and am determined to work towards checking things off as long as God permits.
This has been a busy last couple of weeks for Rick at work. This means that Roman and Mommy have had much time together. Today we went downtown and watched the St. Patrick's Day parade. Roman loved it and just kept saying "More!"
We are looking forward to meeting our friends little boy, Chase who was born a few days ago. Welcome to the world Chase...Roman is excited to have another boy join the Capex Crew.
The last couple of months have been rough for us at night. Roman has decided that he didn't want to sleep through the night. We finally realized that he was having 'night terrors'. He would wake up screaming and there was little that we could do. The last few nights he has been good and has slept through the night. We hope that this stage is over because we have all been exhausted and poor Roman needs to get his beauty sleep. Thank God he is still taking a long nap during the day.
This month he has started saying Mommy and Daddy instead of MaMa and DaDa. His vocabulary is increasing everyday as well as his pronunciation of words. He is still hard to understand most of the time but that doesn't seem to stop him. At times he speaks clear as day and other times you just have to shake your head and say, "OK, whatever you say Roman." Roman loves helping us and he decided to vacuum one day. He was so sad when we had to put the vacuum up. Check out the video at the end of this hilarious moment of him vacuuming.
Bedtime has become my favorite time with him. We read books, sing songs, count, and go over everybody part. He is praying at night and will fold his hands and just keep saying Jesus. He will say Amen at the end. He loves to snuggle and will say Rock and he will just lay his head on me and hug. He is such a sweet boy and it makes me sad to know that one day he won't want me to rock him.
Roman has started asking us WHY? He even has a tone when he says it. It caught me off guard when he said it the first time when I told him something. My baby is now an individual who needs reasons why things are the way they are. Where does the time go? He is also learning to spell his name. Right now he will just say R-O. He is also learning how to hold two fingers up and he will tell you how old he is. He is starting to use his imagination and will pretend. It is so amazing to watch them play and wonder what they are thinking.
We have had a good start to the beginning of spring. Even though it has not officially started yet. We will be doing some traveling this next month. Make sure to enjoy your start to Spring and remember to SMILE!

Winter Fun!

COLD! That is how this past month has been. We had a 'big' snow storm, for the south that is. We were out of school for three days and the city was shut down. Roman loved the snow and it didn't take him long before he was trying to eat it. I guess it was fun to have snow and it made everything look beautiful. However, when you live in a place that is not prepared for it, it makes it tough. The snow eventually melted and things went back to normal. It has been an extremely cold winter for here though. I am ready for the spring weather.
This past month we had some friends over for dinner and played Wii. Rick was ready to win in his 'workout outfit'. It was a fun night with some good friends. We also had a visitor from back home while he was here on business and we got a nice little photo shoot out of it. Thanks Tim, it was great to see you and finally have you visit. I have been consistent in my running and Rick and I are pretty sure we will be training shortly to run a 1/2 marathon in Baltimore. We are excited about it and confident that we can do it. I celebrated my 30th birthday on February 11th. Rick took me out to dinner and it was yummy. He then had my friends surprise me at a local bar. It was a fun night and I am so lucky to have such great friends to celebrate with. Rick definitely did a great job with the planning and I am lucky to have such a wonderful husband. We watched the Super Bowl and celebrated a birthday at our friends house. Unfortunately our team did not win but it is always a good time watching the Super Bowl even if you are not into football. One of Roman's best buds turned one and we celebrated his birthday with him.
Roman has been talking up a storm-still not completely clear but he still has a lot to say. He loves being my little helper. He will throw away trash, empty grocery bags, put clothes in the dryer and put pillows on the bed when I am making it. He is doing a great job at potty training at the sitters. I still can not get him to go at home. Oh well, at least he is trying. He is finally realizing that Mango is a pet and he is petting her and trying to hug her often. He loves to rub her belly. Mango however is not so into Roman. She runs away from him. At least he thinks that is funny and does not get offended.
We are sorry to say that this past weekend a great man left this earth. Rick's Grandfather passed away and Rick is currently on his way back home for the funeral. Due to the weather, he has to drive. We are sad that 'Hunch' is no longer with us but he lived a great life (96 years) and left us all with great memories. Rest in peace Hunch and you will always be in our hearts.
I hope you are all keeping warm this winter season. Remember to take time to enjoy the little things and live life as today may be your last.

Happy Birthday Roman!

Once upon a time there was a baby born. His mom and dad were thrilled to be parents. He was so cute and innocent and the world was never going to be the same again. He was named Roman, and he will now be 2 on January 13th. He has definitely made the world a better place and our lives have been touched by this angel that has been given to us. Though the past two years has brought many 'ups and downs' of child rearing, we would not change anything. When Roman smiles the world stands still and our hearts our filled. We love you Roman and wish you the best birthday ever and may this next year be even better than the last. We had a wonderful party for him this Saturday and he had an awesome day. He is enjoying all his new toys and looking snazzy in his new clothes. It was so nice that Rick's mom and step dad were able to come down and enjoy Roman on his birthday. Roman is taken' back by Grandpa and they are like two peas in a pod. Grandma is a little jealous of the attention that Grandpa is getting but Roman did give her a kiss and say thank you after she gave him his gifts. After the party, Roman took a long, needed nap while Grandma and Mommy went shopping. We all then went to dinner and ate pizza and watched football. GO COWBOYS!!!
The past month has been filled with adventures as always. Grandma and Grandpa Moyers (Rick's mom and step dad) came down in early December to celebrate Christmas with us. We then had a wonderful Christmas with my brother and his family. They were here visiting for a week and Roman had a blast with his cousin Turner. They were best buds and Turner was able to get him out of his 'bad mood' even when Mommy couldn't. Thank God for wonderful family. We wished we lived closer. We were able to go out to dinner with just the adults while my niece Rylee stayed home with the other kids. It was nice to get away and I am sure the kids had fun with 'no adults' in the house. We also went bowling and Roman did pretty well (never mind that he had the bumpers up and someone else threw half his balls). We miss you guys and can't wait to see you all again.
We had a very low key New Year's. We just stayed home...Roman in bed by 8...Chinese take out...bed by 11:00...woke for midnight...kissed quickly...sweet dreams. We have both started running. The weather has been FREEZING but we are determined to get out there and run. We have both been enjoying it and are looking forward to a little warmer weather.

2009 Coming To An End!

December is here and Christmas is upon us. Santa, Baby Jesus,Christmas parades, cookie bakes, Christmas shoping, gift wrapping, card sending, tree decorating, get togethers with friends and family-talk about ending the year with a bang!
This past month has been filled with more great memories. My parents (Grammy and Poppy) were down for a weekend to celebrate Thanksgiving/Christmas with us. Roman loved the tractors they gave him and we can't wait to see them again. We drove to Baltimore for Thanksgiving weekend to visit some friends and we had a wonderful time. The guys fried a turkey outside while the girls prepared the rest of the food and kept Roman occupied. We went down to the harbor and saw Santa and I am pretty sure Rick was happier to see Santa than Roman. Roman was all about going into Santa's house but did not want to sit on his lap. I guess they eventually learn that Santa is not such a bad guy afterall. While in Baltimore, Roman decided that he no longer wanted to sleep in a pack n' play. He was very quiet one day during nap time so I decided to go check on him. Well, when I opened the door I discovered him standing outside the pack and play (Lovey in mouth) ripping up Uncle Chris' mail and dropping it in the pack n' play. Needless to say, he did not nap that day and we had to rig the bedroom up so he could not escape that night. As soon as we got home, we converted his crib into a bed and another milestone has come and gone. These are such bitter sweet moments:)
We had a wonderful photo shoot of Roman. A friend I work with takes pictures so we went downtown to capture the last days of Roman being a one year old. He was such a little model and the pics turned out great.
We celebrated with neighbors the one year anniversary of a friend who received a lung transplant. He is such a trooper and an inspiration to us all.
We also had our Annual Christmas party where we ate lots of yummy food, chatted with friends, and drank too much(according to the recycle bin). It was a successful party and it is always so great to get your friends together and enjoy their company.
I was able to go out with some neighborhood friends for dinner and exchanged white elephant gifts. I ended up leaving with a nice scarf and someone else left with a can of beans and a picture of me (Kirsti-I better see this up in your house LOL!) It is always nice to get away and do something for yourself. Rick's guys night out is coming up and I know he is looking forward to that as well.
Rick's mom and stepdad (Grandma and Grandpa) were just here for the weekend to celebrate an early Christmas with us. Roman was very much spoiled and received way too many toys and gifts but he loved them all. It is always so nice to have family in town and I know Roman enjoys getting so much attention.
We are looking forward to a great Christmas. My brother and his family will be joining us and I know Roman is going to love all the presents. This year he finally gets what is going on and knows that the presents are for him. I can't wait to see his face when he comes down the stairs and sees the gifts under the tree. These are the moments I want to cherish forever.
We will also be celebrating Roman's second birthday on January 13th. I can't believe the time as flown by. We are raising a little man and no longer a baby. We love you Roman and wish you the very, merriest Christmas and Birthday ever. May 2010 bring you many smiles and always know that Mommy and Daddy love you very much!

Turkey, Terrible Two's & Time Change!

Another month has come and gone. I can't believe Thanksgiving is right around the corner.

'Turkey, Turkey, in the hay-Still you strut around with pride, when you should take off and hide-Turkey, Turkey, we have a date-I will see you on my plate".

Before I start I would just like to say-GO YANKEES! We are so excited that they won the World Series and all those late nights staying up paid off.

This month has been a challenging one. Roman has decided that he is going to push all the 'wrong' buttons for Mommy and Daddy. He has started saying "NO"! for everything and will throw those wonderful tantrums when he does not get his way. I want to thank Dr. Dobson for all his wonderful books on parenting and he has taught me many things. Like most things in life, parenting does not come with a handbook and in the middle of a crisis you feel like you are walking in the dark unsure of what to do. I am learning to be consistant with everything I do for Roman and he is learning that Mommy and Daddy are in charge. On top of all this, we had to turn the clocks back. Who would think that one hour would screw up a child's sleeping habits. Well, in our house it did. Roman was getting up an hour earlier and was ready to start the day. I think he is finally getting back to normal now and hopefully I won't have to see 5:00am for awhile. It's amazing how the most precious gift you have can give you the most grief. Though we are going through this tough stage of parenting and childhood right now, we adore our boy and we are so blessed to have the opportunity to be a parent and experience all the ups and downs that come with it.

This past month Roman finished up his swimming lessons and he is currently taking a break. We went to a Halloween party at My Gym and he loved it. He was so brave and ran around and played without me. He found the Mr. Potato Head corner and was mesmerized by all the things he could do with it. We went to a Jump House for a friend's birthday party. Roman had a ball playing in all the jump houses. We ended up leaving early but it was a learning experience for Mom and Roman of what to do when one of those tantrums happens.

We spent an evening with some friends where the kids made spiders and painted pumpkins. Roman was like a little man sitting there. I honestly think he thought he was Picasso sitting there. He was having so much fun and his clothes and body definitely showed it. We had to put him in the bathtub right after.

Roman was a bumble bee for Halloween. We spent the evening with friends and walked around their neighborhood. It did not take Roman long before he figured out to walk up to the house and hold his bucket out. He was a trooper. He even walked through his first Haunted House. Mommy was more scared than he was. Besides trying to walk in every home when they opened the door, it was a wonderful evening and hopefully we made great memories for Roman.

I went to a re grand opening of an Old Navy. I stood in line and was one of the first 200 people to enter the door. All I won was a t-shirt. I never win anything:( Anyways, I did get a picture with my favorite radio show hosts-Bob and the Showgram. I guess it was worth it. Grandma Mary Jo was just in town and enjoyed a weekend with us. We went to a birthday party for Roman's friend Maura and Roman enjoyed his first fish fry for dinner. Oh wait....we enjoyed a fish fry. I forgot, Roman does not eat these days. Of course he eats for Lora during the week but goes on a hunger strike for us at home. GO FIGURE!!!!! We also went to the Farmer's Market with Grandma where we picked up all sorts of yummy, fresh food for dinner. It was a beautiful day and the ribs turned out amazing! YUM!!YUM!!

We are looking forward to Thanksgiving around the corner. My parents will be here this weekend for a visit and than we will be traveling to Baltimore for Thanksgiving. We hope you all enjoy your Turkey Day and don't eat too much pie!

Fall Begins!

Happy Fall! We have had a great beginning to the Fall season. Football is in full swing, baseball is coming to an end-GO YANKEES!!! and the weather is getting cooler.

Rick was able to go to New York for a long weekend to visit family and attend his cousins wedding. During this time, Roman and mommy had some great bonding time and mommy is learning to make ramps out of many household items for Roman's cars.

Rick and I were also able to go to the U2 concert and it was awesome! We tailgated with some friends and than watched an amazing artist perform. Even though we had to wait over an hour to leave the parking lot from all the traffic, it was sooooo worth it.

Roman has finished up another session of swimming lessons. He is doing great with his skills but does not like the instructors and is having a hard time with following the schedule. He just wants to play with the toys and be on his own schedule. I guess this is typical of someone his age but it is hard when you are paying money to have him not appreciate it. At least he is learning skills that he will hopefully use as he gets older.

Roman loves playing with cars, trucks, airplanes, and trains. He is learning his colors and how to count with the cars. He has a cabinet in the kitchen that is his. We have filled it with 'his groceries'. He loves to take out the items and pretend play with them. The other day he took out the yogurt cups and handed me one. He said, 'here you go'. It took me a minute to realize he had just said a sentence that was clear. He is really starting to talk a lot more and put words together. He is also finally starting to use the word 'mommy'. I think he has learned that the word has power if he uses it:) He loves music and will ask for the music to play in the car before he even gets in the car seat. He also knows that he has more than one cd and will ask us to change it. He definitely is a child who knows what he wants and knows how to get it.

We took Roman to a local farm where we saw some animals, picked out a pumpkin and went on a hayride. He loves tractors but was not sure of being in the back on a wagon. He was clung to me the whole time. He loved picking out his pumpkin and rearranged all the pumpkins at the patch. I guess he saw a different way they needed to be organized. It was hilarious. A little man after my own heart.

We are looking forward to the cooler weather, watching the leaves change colors, and most of all watching Roman explore the world and become a little boy. He brings such joy to our lives.

End of Summer!!!

This has been another crazy month with many ups and downs. I have returned back to work and summer is officially over:( I am having a good start to the school year. My class seems to be adjusting well and my days fly by. I am just amazed how exhausting it is to teach 23-first graders all day and then come home to a 'wild man.' We have gone through a rough patch with Roman and him waking up very, very early every morning. He would not even lay in bed with us and watch TV. He was wide awake and wanted to go downstairs and play. This is what he does when he is teething. He has got two more teeth. It is amazing what lack of sleep will do to you. You just have to remind yourself that it is only for a moment and you will get through it. For the moment, he is doing better and has returned to sleeping in later. Thank God!!!!!!!

Roman is having a great time back at Lora's and playing with all his friends. Our friends little girl Zoe, has joined him there and he is showing her the ropes. Hopefully he is making a good impression on her since they will be future prom dates. Roman has been going on the potty at daycare but refuses to go for us at home. He has also become a very picky eater and I am afraid he is going to turn into a grape since that is all I can seem to get him to eat lately. He is growing up so fast and I am amazed how much he is learning. He is now putting two to three words together at times. His favorite word right now is 'athen' (again). Everything you do he wants you to repeat it.

Rick has done some traveling this month for work so Roman and Mommy had some great bonding time. We LOVE when Daddy returns though. We have had some family in town. My brother and his family were down for a long weekend and we spent some time at the pool, cooking out, and we went to Marbles. Roman had a blast and he loved the water table. Unfortunately it did not last long because he decided to dump the bucket of water over his head. So much for the smock. I guess he needed full rain gear on:) This past weekend Rick's mom and step dad were in town. Roman spent some time with Grandma while Grandpa Vern, Rick, and myself went to a Durham Bulls Baseball Game. Our friend Melissa caught a ball (well, it was thrown to her after the outfielder caught it) and we gave it to Roman when we got home. He loved it. He was playing catch with Grandpa and kept saying 'got it'. He has quite the arm on him and loves throwing balls. T-ball is definitely in his future.

Roman has moved up in his swimming class and he is swimming longer distances and is learning to dive under the water on the steps to get toys. We just signed him up for the next session which lasts until December so hopefully he continues to enjoy it.

It is now football season and Rick and I have joined a Fantasy Football league. I am clueless at what is going on but I guess this will be one way to learn. I figured since I would be forced to have the games on my television, I could at least have someone to root for.

Fall is right around the corner and the year is flying by. I hope you all had a great summer and we look forward to having a fun Fall with all the autumn festivities that come along.

19 Months Old!

This has been another fun filled month at the Przygoda household. After spending a great week with my niece visiting, we spent the weekend in Columbia, South Carolina visiting some friends. It was nice meeting their new daughter Elin and swimming in the pool.

The past three weeks, I have been babysitting a friends baby named Zoe. Roman has been such a great help and he loves to hold the bottle for her and throw the dirty diapers away. He became very protective of her and was acting like a big brother. NO-this does not mean he is ready for a sibling...it just means he is a great friend:)

Rick and I went to a Rascall Flatts concert with some friends. Unfortunately the show was not too long but it was nice to get out and listen to some good music. We also celebrated our 5th anniversary. He is an amazing husband and father and I feel so blessed to have spent another year with him. Ordering Chinese for dinner and champagne was a great way to spend the evening.

We have spent some weekends hanging out with neighbors and chilling in the hot, hot, sun. We have some great neighbors and it has been nice getting to know them. We also spent an evening with some RHD friends. It is always nice getting together with great people.

Roman had his 18th month check-up and is doing great. He is hitting all bench marks and growing. He is finally growing into his head (75th percentile) but unfortunately the doctor's office is not his favorite place to be. As soon as the doctor walked in, he ran to me and waved good bye to her.

Roman is continuing his swimming lessons and he is now swimming distances under the water and jumping in the water on his own. He loves the pool but not the lessons. He only wants to play and swim when he wants to. He is already being stubborn in class and bubbles have become the magic to keep him involved. He is continuing to amaze us everyday.

My summer is coming to an end. I have enjoyed having time off with Roman but I know he will have a great time with Ms. Lora and playing with his friends. I return to work on Monday for a new school year.

July August Video

A Year and a Half!

This has been another very busy month. We started off by taking a trip up to New York to visit family and friends. While we were there, we attended a wedding reception for one of our great friends (Roman's Godfather). It was a nice time although it rained all day and the puddles were knee high. You have to love Upstate weather. Roman's Grandmother (Rick's mom) took a few days off of work and we took Roman to the Zoo, Amusement Park and Science Museum. He enjoyed all of these attractions. We were able to take advantage of having Grandparents around and spend an evening with friends. It was a great time. After spending a few days in Rochester, we drove down the thruway and went to my parents house. Roman had a great time playing with cousins and of course riding Poppy's tractor. Tractor has become one of his favorite words. Roman loved playing with the new kitty's. Grammy's cat Tiger had 4 kittens and Roman was a big help with calling them when it was time for them to eat. Unfortunately at the end of our trip, Roman came down with a virus of some sort. He was sick and not sleeping. The plane ride home was quite stressful and yes I was 'that mom' with 'that kid' on the plane. All in all it was a nice trip but ten days away from home with an 18 month old can get hard.

We had a wonderful fourth of July weekend at the pool, grilling out, and of course a shrimp boil with the neighbors. It was a nice relaxing weekend and the fireworks look great from your television. Maybe we can go see them next year when Roman doesn't ask to go to bed on time. Rick's birthday was on the 6th and Five Guys is always a great place to celebrate. We love you and hope you enjoyed your day.

I was able to spend a girls night out at an outdoor movie. It was fun to get out with the girls.

We just returned from Virginia Beach for the weekend. We spent the weekend with my brother, his wife, and 3 girls. Roman was so much more comfortable with the beach and he even would let you put his feet in the water as long as you were holding him. We went to the aquarium and tried to see the planes at the naval base. Roman is still all about airplanes. It is slowly transitioning into any transportation though. Looking out the windows and looking for cars and trucks will always make him happy. My brother, niece Haley and myself went to a Trace Atkins/Toby Keith concert. It was a nice show and we had great seats. You can see a video clip and photos of the show in our photo albums. It was nice spending some time with family and my niece Kristin has come home with us for the week. This will be her big trip until she is off to college

Roman is talking a lot more and everyday we can understand him a little better. He is learning his animal sounds and he has also discovered how to jump. His feet don't completely come off the ground but he does his best to try. He has quite the personality and loves to make people laugh. His laugh is definitely contagious and will always make you smile.

We look forward to spending the rest of the summer at home enjoying the pool, taking walks, bike riding, and hanging out with friends. I know Mango will be happy to have her family home for awhile. 17 Months! Summertime

This past month has been filled with many adventures and memories. Roman is talking so much and will repeat just about anything you ask him to. He also said I love you for the first time. When he does it, he will throw a kiss. It is adoradle. He is becoming a big helper with cleaning up and he hates when things are out of place or when the floor is wet. I wonder where he got that from? He is even learning how the DVD player is working. He took the DVD case and put it under the DVD player. He knew it had to go somewhere. He then went and sat on his chair and waited for it to play. He loves airplanes and will stop whatever he is doing to go look for one when he hears it. We have taken him to the observation deck at the airport a few times and he loves it. Roman has quite the arm on him. He loves to play ball and he is throwing everything. WATCH OUT! Yankees should be sending a scout out any day now:) He is enjoying his swimming lessons and he loves playing in his sand table and riding his tractor. He will be a great help to Poppy when he gets older. We will send him off to the farm to learn some good work ethic. Roman is also becoming very friendly. He waves and says hi and bye to everyone he sees. We were in a store today. He waved to every manikin that we walked by. He even wanted to shake one of their hands. He didn't even care that some of them were headless.

We have been doing a lot of biking and Rick just received his early Father's Day/Birthday present. We bought a home gym for the garage. The garage is now the Guys Hangout. Playroom at one end and gym at the other. Tickets to the 'gun show' will be sent out soon.

We spent a nice, relaxing vacation at the beach with some friends. We had lots of laughs and the kids had a great time playing in the sand and pool. Roman was not a fan of the waves but decided the sand wasn't so bad. Rick was able to go golfing with the guys while the Mommy's had some bonding time with the kiddos.

We were lucky to have both Grandma's in town this month to watch Roman. Grandma and Grandpa Vern were down for a week. They had a great time with Roman. I am sure Harris Teeter misses Grandma coming in and getting Roman his free balloons. Grandma Francis (Grammy) was in town right after that. Roman had a good time baking with Grammy.

One of our good friends had a baby this month. Welcome Zoe Shaw to the world! We love you!

I am now done with school for the summer and look forward to all the bonding Roman and I will have. We have many activities planned and we will stay busy. We are off to NY to visit family and friends next week. We look forward to a great summer. I am sure many more great memories will be made. 16 Months-OH BOY!

Roman is 16 months old and on the go. He is practically running everywhere and the world has become his playground to explore and learn new things. He has officially been initiated into the bumps and bruises club. I guess this is the territory that comes along with having a boy. He is talking all the time (although mom is the only one who understands him half the time) and he will sing to himself in the car. His car seat is like his throne and he will sit there with his arms on the armrest and look like he is running the show. He is becoming so much more verbal with telling us his wants and needs and is using the sign language he is learning. It is amazing to see how much they can learn and know when to use it. He has become such an affectionate child. He loves to give kisses and will chase Mango until she kisses him.

Roman received a clean bill of health at his last check up and he is finally starting to grow into his head. He is doing very well with his potty training and loves to put fish stickers on his ocean picture when he pees. They call him 'Rocket Man' at daycare because he is so good at it. He is such a typical male-he will sit on his potty, read his books and be absolutely content. He has been taking swimming lessons and loves the water. He is submerging under the water and learning how to float on his back. Look out Michael Phelps, here comes Roman Przygoda. With a name like that, he is bound to do something famous.

This past month we had a get together with our RHD friends, had a luau with neighbors, attended a festival where Lovey was almost lost (thank God for security who chased us down to return him), took many walks, hikes, and bike rides, and spent some good time with friends. We had some good friends from Baltimore down for a weekend where Uncle Chris (Roman's Godfather) watched him for a day. They had a wonderful day and I am sure Roman gave him a run for his money. We went strawberry picking and Roman was a big help putting the strawberries in the bucket. I have had a few girls nights and Rick went with the guys this past weekend to Darlington for the race. Today I had a great Mother's Day. Rick let me sleep in-even after only a couple hours of sleep. We had a nice bike ride together as a family and then enjoyed going out for some ice cream. It was a nice, relaxing day with my boys.

We would like to congratulate Dave and Jamie Dailey-our great friends from Colorado. They had a little girl named Elin. She is lucky to have such great parents and we wish her health and happiness.

To all the moms reading this- you are great at what you do and being a mom is the most important job you will ever have. Hold your kids tight, give them lots of kisses, and capture every moment as it may be your last. Take care of yourself and know they are always watching you. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

15 Months-Planes and Potty's!

Roman is 15 months old. This month has been a lot of fun and Roman has been such a joy. His vocabulary is growing every day and he will try and repeat whatever you say. Some of his new words this month are Boots, Dora, Swiper, Tigger, ball, and tractor. The words he chooses to say crack us up. He still won't say MaMa unless it is urgent. He calls me NaNa. I guess he has a mind of his own and will say what he wants when he wants.

Roman has started sitting on the potty. Ms. Lora believes in potty training young. We would be thrilled if this happened has diapers would no longer be needed. He has only peed once so far but he loves his froggy potty. He was so proud of himself when he went. He stood up, looked in, and clapped. What a ham!

This month we attended a baby shower for a close friend. Roman stole the show. We look forward to Zoe (Roman's future prom date) joining our world. We have gone on many hikes and Roman loves to hold Mango's leash. Even though Mango is only 11 pounds, she still pulls Roman. He doesn't know that though. Roman and I flew to NY to visit family. Roman did OK on the plane but he definitely doesn't like to sit still. He had a great time playing with cousins, riding Grandpa's tractor, playing in Grandma's toy cabinet, and feeding Tiger(Grandma's cat) every morning. It was a nice way to spend my spring break.

Roman received his first bloody nose and fat lip this month. He fell and hit face first. He got right up and started playing. What a tough guy! It really scared mommy though. I am just waiting for the first trip to the ER. Hopefully we won't ever have to do that.

We had a nice Easter weekend. We got together with some friends and dyed Easter eggs. We went to church and saw some old friends. We than went to brunch at Bob Evans and Daddy and Roman took a nice bike ride in the afternoon while Mommy took a nap. Unfortunately all good things have to come to an end and we are off to work tomorrow.

Rick and I were able to get away and go to a Hurricanes game. Rick has also been able to get together with the guys and he also got to dust off his golf clubs. All in all things are good in the Przygoda household. We are thankful for all our blessings and look forward to a wonderful Spring!

14 Months-Hikes and Bikes!

Spring is here... well, it was. Roman is constantly on the go and has become an 'outdoors guy'. He loves exploring and learning about the world. He gets very upset when we have to come inside. We have turned the garage into the 'Man's Den'. Roman is learning how to use chalk on his chalkboard and loves pulling his wagon around. He is learning some new words and is using some sign language to communicate with us. His new sound is 'Buh'! I was not sure what this was but Ms. Lora (his sitter) said they have been learning the letter B. I guess he is taking it in.

This past month we have gone on many hikes and we are glad Roman is loving the outdoors as much as we do. We have bought bikes and a trailer for Roman. He loves bike riding with us. Pretty soon he will be peddling his own bike. As for right now, he is content on his riding tractor. He is just learning how to make it go.

Roman received his first haircut this month. He did not like it at all. The lady did a great job cutting while Daddy was blowing bubbles and I was trying to give him a snack. How many people does it take to give a boy a haircut? He came out looking very handsome and he now has a 'big boy' look.

Roman has become a great help with cleaning and he loves to dust. I guess he takes after mom. He understands just about any object I say and he will go wipe it down. I am so proud:) He has received a new nickname-given to him by Ms. Lora's husband. They call him Linus (from Snoopy). He walks around with Lovey hanging out of his mouth. He is so funny! The only thing missing is the cloud of dust around his head.

We have visited some friends who have had babies this month. WELCOME Holden Wright and Avery Arledge. We remember the newborn stage and will keep you in our prayers:)

I have been able to get out with the girls some and Rick was able to spend some time with a friend and went to see Roller Derby. It is so important to make time for yourself and enjoy life outside the home. We love our family time but look forward to a 'night out'. Rick and I have also made sure to have date night at least once a month.

I have been tutoring some in the evenings so Rick and Roman have had plenty of 'guy time'. Rick is such a great Dad and can take over when I leave with no problem. I appreciate him so much and thank God for such a great guy.

We look forward to the spring weather coming as we will be taking some trips and spending relaxing time together as a family. We thank you for keeping up with our lives and we hope you are all doing well. We miss those of you who we don't get to see often and wish we were closer.

Before we go, we would like to say CONGRATULATIONS Syracuse-6 overtimes...what a record! Uncle Greg, you must be proud.

13 Months Old!

Happy Valentine's Day! The Przygoda household is filled with love. This has been a fun month. Roman has gone from walking with a wobble to just about running. He is into EVERYTHING! I can't believe that you can have a million toys and a kid won't even play with them. He is much more intrigued with the kitchen cabinets, refrigerator (which he got into the other day and tried to grab a beer), dog bowl, and just about anything he is not suppose to have. He is becoming much more independent and will definetely let us know what he wants and when he wants it (which is NOW!). He is talking a lot more and will imitate just about anything you do. His new words this month are touchdown and more. He was in the 50th percentile for his height and weight at his one year check up but they said his head was in the 90th. You just have to laugh. Poor Guy! He inherited the Francis head and he will just have to grow into it. The rest of us did:) Besides that, he is doing great developmentally and is advanced in many things-so the doctor says. Some of Roman's favorite things to do at this time are riding in his wagon, chasing Mango, talking on his cell phone, reading his books and brushing his teeth. I can't believe he is a little boy and not a baby anymore. He is officially off the bottle and I think that was harder for Mommy than him. He is sleeping about 12 hours a night and it's a great thing since I have to get up so early. I am training for a 10K and have been running about 4 times a week before work. It is so hard to get up so early but it makes the rest of the day great. It has become my time and it is actually relaxing. I encourage all of you to find something to do for yourself and make that a priority. It is so worth it and makes you feel great.

Some of the highlights of this past month were going on hikes, Super Bowl (Matt's 30th-Happy Birthday!), Party with RHD friends, game nights with the neighbors, enjoying visits from family, taking Roman to his first museum (Marbles), Roman's first snow storm(he wasn't sure of the snow at first but he laughed when the kids were throwing snowballs), Naomi's 29th birthday, and many nights hanging out enjoying each other's company.

Roman is looking forward to Baby Wright joining the clan. He is being stubborn and giving his mom a hard time but hopefully by the end of the day, he will arrive. We are super excited about another boy. We love all the girls but boys rule!

This month's blog is dedicated to my mom. It is her birthday this month and I want everyone to know how great she is. She is my best friend and Roman loves his grammy.

Roman Turns ONE!!!!!!!!!

Roman is now officially 52 weeks old. I can't believe a whole year as come and gone. The past month has been a huge milestone month for Roman. He is talking a lot more-mama, dada, night night, and ba-ba(he says na-na). He has also learned the word 'up'. He loves to look up, especially at fans and wave. We are now working on 'down'. He is understanding so much more of what we say to him. He now knows what the phone is and tries to answer it, when it rings. Thanks to the Jones', he received his own cell phone for his birthday. The biggest milestone of all this month is that Roman is now WALKING! Yes, he is all over the place and it is so cute. He is so tiny and to see him walk around makes me laugh. Check out the video of him walking.

This past month we enjoyed celebrating Roman's first Christmas. It was nice to have Rick's family down to celebrate with us. Roman received enough toys to open a new Toys R'Us store. I am not sure if he knows all what he has since he was more interested in the paper and boxes.

We also celebrated his first birthday this weekend with friends and family. It was so nice to have friends and family from out out town for the occasion. We had a house full but Roman enjoyed every minute of it. He wasn't sure about why everyone was looking at him and singing but that did not seem to matter after we gave him his piece of cake. He devoured the whole thing and than tried to eat the plate it was on. Let's just say, he took a bath after that. Mommy made the cake for the party and the Very Hungry Caterpillar theme went over great with all the kids. We look forward to another great year with Roman. It is amazing how fast they grow and how much they learn. Every day is an adventure and you never know what he will do or discover. Being a parent is one of the best blessings you could have. 11 MONTHS OLD!

Yes, Roman is 11 months old. I can't believe that I am starting to plan for his first birthday. The year has flown by. I can't believe that my next blog will be about his first birthday.

Roman is cruising all over the house. He has started to take steps on his own but for now the furniture continues to be his support. He is clapping, dancing, talking(no clue what he is saying), and chasing Mango. He loves music and the Hokey Pokey has become his favorite song. When you sing he will pound the floor with his right hand and shake his body when you say Hokey Pokey. It is hilarious. He has also discovered that Mango will play with him. He will chase her from one side of the room to another and giggle the whole time. He is definetely giving Mango a run for her money.

This past month we enjoyed our first Thanksgiving with Roman. Daddy fried a turkey which was delicious and Roman enjoyed eating all the fixens'. The pumpkin pie was obviously his favorite. After Thanksgiving we decorated for Christmas and Roman loves all the lights. We are looking forward to him opening all his presents from Santa. Speaking of Santa, Roman went and saw him and sat on his lap. He was happy long enough to get a picture but when he realized that he did not know this man in a white beard, he started crying. By the way, the beard was real.

I was able to enjoy a night out with a friend to go to a Hurricanes game. It was a good game even though they lost. I only go for the fights anyway (and there were some good ones).

All in all, things are great in the Przygoda household. We are thankful for all that we have during this season and look forward to sharing and starting new traditions during the holiday with Roman. Rick's family will be joining us for Christmas and I am sure Roman will be quite spoiled. Thank God we finished the garage for all the toys.

I would like to dedicate this blog to the Francis Family. We will miss you at Christmas but know we are there in the spirit. We love you all very much and Roman says hi to all his cousins and wishes he could have some of Grandma's apple pie.

10 MONTHS OLD!

Roman is ten months old and on the go. He has grown up a lot this past month. He is continuing to walk by holding on to the furniture and is becoming more brave in trying to let go. I just know he is going to take off at any moment. He is also clapping, playing peek a boo, and saying 'Ma Ma' and 'Da Da'. He has four teeth and is starting to use them to eat his food. He is becoming very independent and wants to feed himself. We can't believe how fast he is growing up.

This past month we enjoyed having my parents down for a visit. Grammy and Poppy had Christmas with Roman and he enjoyed opening the presents. He was very intrigued with the paper. We also went to the State Fair where we enjoyed looking at all the animals, tasting apple cider, riding the carousel, and snacking on food. Roman had a great time except that the goat ate his carrot in the petting zoo and he was not happy about it. He let out the loudest scream. I guess he did not understand that the carrot was for the goat and not himself.

We enjoyed a nice vacation in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico where we relaxed in the sun and attended Rick's sisters wedding. It was nice to get away but traveling with a baby is no easy task. Roman was a great boy all in all and I am thrilled that he had the opportunity to visit another country at such a young age. We learned that he loves guacamoli and hates the sand. Rick and I were able to go zip lining through the jungle on a tour. It was amazing and beautiful. We are happy to be home and look forward to the upcoming holidays.

Nine Months Old!

Roman is nine months old and on the go. He is crawling all over the place and pulling himself up. He has just started to go from one piece of furniture to another without falling. He is so proud of himself. When he pulls himself up, he will turn around to make sure you are watching him. He has also received his two bottom teeth and one top tooth. It is so cute when he smiles.

Roman had his first 'run in' at the sitters. Unfortunately, Roman was bit on the cheek by another little boy. He took it well and did not retaliate. Don't worry-all is well and he is doing great. A little bite is not going to slow him down. Mommy just thinks he is so sweet that the little boy just wanted to eat him:)

Speaking of eating..Roman is eating 3 meals a day instead of bottles. He loves table food and pancakes have become his favorite. He is becoming very independent and likes to feed himself. We are still working on using the sippy cup. He does however, still get a bottle in the morning and at bedtime.

This month has been busy. We enjoyed having friends visit from out of town. While they were here, we had a party and cooked a low country boil. It was a lot of fun and the food was delicious. Grandma Moyers also visited and bought Roman his first pumpkin. We also attended a baby shower for some friends and a birthday party for one of Roman's 'girlfriends'. We are looking forward to more family visiting later on in the month.

We have been enjoying the cooler weather and are looking forward to our trip to Mexico in early November. We are excited that Roman has the opportunity to visit another country at such a young age.

Mom and Dad are doing well. We are just enjoying our little 'Mr.' and trying not to work too hard:)

8 MONTHS OLD!

Yes, I know you can't believe it but Roman will be 8 months old. This past month has been amazing. I wish he came with a pause and rewind button. He has had many milestones in the past month and we are so proud of our little man. He is officially crawling (everywhere) and he also got two teeth that came through-OUCH!

As far as the crawling goes-he is very fast and we now have a constant watch on him. He discovered the dog bowl before I even knew what he was doing. I let him play in it so I could get the camera and capture the moment. It was so funny-Mango was a good sport and was just licking up the water off the floor. We baby proofed the house but I am sure Roman will still find some kind of trouble to get into:)

Roman no longer has to ask for his two front teeth for Christmas. The two bottom teeth came in this past week. He grabbed my finger one night and OUCH! that is how I discovered them. Rick and I were so excited-we were like two little kids ourselves and we both called our moms. Who would of thought two teeth would make mommy and daddy so excited.

I am back to work full time and Roman is having a great time at the sitters. He is quite the social bug and makes everyone smile. I miss him so much during the day but being away from him makes our time that much more special when we are together.

We enjoyed having some family in town this month and Roman attended his first Catholic Mass and was great throughout the whole service. I am not sure if the pew behind us got much out of it as Roman was quite entertaining and kept making them laugh. It makes me smile to see that my son brings smiles to others. He is such a BLESSING!!!

We are really enjoying our new neighborhood and meeting new friends. We had our first neighborhood block party. Life has been good to us and we are very thankful for where we are. We are sad to see summer go but we are looking forward to cooler weather. We are pleased to say Roman made it through his first Hurricane (Thank You Hanna for being so kind) and we hope for a beautiful fall.

Special Edition-7 1/2 Months Old!

ROMAN IS CRAWLING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are so proud of him. Rick and I experienced it for the first time together. We are so happy he decided to show us his new skill when we were having family time. It kind of looks like he is doing the 'soldier crawl'. This morning we had to start moving things around because he was getting into things he was not suppose to. So much for the days of putting him down and knowing he is going to stay there. It is so awesome watching them grow up and experience the world. We can learn so much through the eyes of a child. Please take a moment to watch Roman in action. We had to do some bribing with the puzzle to get him to show off for the camera. Mango, you better watch out because here he comes:)

7 MONTHS OLD!

Another month has come and gone. Our little angel is now 7 months old. He is turning into a little man and we are loving every minute of it. He is now around 20 lbs. and growing strong. He has mastered sitting up on his own and is beginning to crawl backwards. He will crawl backwards and than get frustrated because he can't get back to where he started from. It is pretty funny to watch. He is very active and very inquisitive. He grabs for everything and we are now always watching for what he will do next. He knows what he wants and he does everything in his power to get it. I think I know where he inherited that from:) Check out the video of him discovering his voice. It is hillarious when he screams. He also loves to spin around on his belly.

The summer is coming to an end and I am back to work next week. I have had a great summer with Roman and have experienced how motherhood is so wonderful. We have had many great times at the pool, going on hikes (he loves the outdoors), visits from family members, dining out, swinging, and walking. I am sad to go back to work but I know Roman loves his sitter and will enjoy playing with other children and making friends. I am sure that Mango is looking forward to the house being quiet again. She has been a great pet to Roman and they have become good buds.

Besides all the news about Mr. Roman, Rick and I have had a good summer as well. We have taken up hiking and try to go on one at least once a week. We love the outdoors and taking advantage of the nice weather. I am continuing to train for my half marathon in October. It is going well but very challanging. I am proud of the effort I am making and know it will be worth it in the end. We enjoyed a Rascall Flatts concert. It was extremely crowded but nice to get away. We hope you all had a great summer! Six Months Old!

Roman is just about 6 months now. Where has the time gone? He is growing so fast and learning many new things. We go for his six month check up next week. I am sure he will be above average for his height and weight. He is definetely a tough little guy. It is fun watching him discover the world and how it works. I think children teach us more than we, as adults teach them. He is now eating solids at dinner time. He loves apple sauce, peaches, sweet potatoes, and bananas. He has also enjoyed some ice cream, cream cheese, and cake icing from Mommy's spoon (SHHHHH! don't tell anyone). He is also starting to sit up on his own. He doesn't fall over until he realizes that he is sitting up by himself. I guess we have to work on his confidence:) He has officially taken over his crib and you never know what position you will find him in when you go to get him. He is very mobile and we are waiting for him to crawl at any moment. He has become very vocal. He loves to use his voice. He loves to scream and pant like a dog. We have no idea where he got this from. He thinks he is funny. He has also discovered how to stick out his tongue. It is hilarious. He has officially become a thumb sucker. It is so cute and I am glad I don't have to keep up with a pacifier.

In the past month, Roman has become quite the little traveler. We flew to Rochester for the weekend for his aunt's bridal shower and he was smothered with hugs and kisses by all the women. We also got to get together with some old friends. It is amazing how time goes by. We were all sitting there with our children. Who knows what we would of been doing 6 years ago. We than had to take an emergency trip to Albany, NY as my father's church burnt down. It was very sad to see but we are looking forward to rebuilding. It was a great blessing for my parents to see Roman on such a sad day. It was a surprise that we went and I am glad we were able to go and show our support. With all that was going on, Poppy was able to give Roman a ride on the tractor. While we were there we were also able to attend my great niece's dedication. It was nice to see the family. After we returned, we took our first road trip with Roman to Baltimore, MD. to visit some friends for the 4th. We had a great time as we walked around the city, ate some good food, visited the aquarium (Nemo was there), and celebrated Rick's birthday. Roman was a trooper and is a great traveling partner.

We are looking forward to having some family down this summer and Roman is having a great time with his cousin Rylee who is staying with us for a couple of weeks. She is a great help.

Five Months Old!

Roman is now five months old. He is doing great. He is now around 17 lbs. and growing every minute. He is a very happy baby and we are enjoying him tremendously. He has discovered his feet and loves to suck on his toes. He is also becoming a lot more verbal. He talks to his toys and loves his excersaucer.

This past month we have taken Roman to the zoo. I am not sure he knew where he was at, but it was a nice time that we got to share with friends. Roman enjoyed having grandparents in town and they watched him as I finished up my last weeks in school. He was spoiled greatly and definetely charmed them with his smile.

We took him to the pool for the first time and he LOVED it. We are hoping to make a fish out of him. Now that I am done with school, I am sure we will be spending lots of time at the pool. We are looking forward to a great summer as a family.

This weekend, Roman and I are off to Rochester, NY to visit some friends and attend a shower. He is looking forward to his 2nd plane ride and Mommy is hoping he behaves:)

I would like to dedicate this blog to my husband and father of my son, Rick. He is a great Dad and he has been a great parenting partner. I wish him well on his First Father's Day and I look forward to all the great memories we will make. I know Roman thinks his Dad is the GREATEST!!!! We love you!

Four Months Old!

Happy Spring! Roman is growing so fast. We are amazed by him everyday. He is sleeping through the night and wakes up with a great big smile every morning. He is a very happy baby and loves people. He is very social, like his dad and wants to be everyone's friend. He is currently rolling over many times a day. He has also starting teething. I have never seen so much drool come out of such a little person before. We look forward to his four month checkup. I am sure he is above average as far as height and weight go. He is a growing boy and already showing signs of being an athlete.

This past month we enjoyed taking Roman to his first festival. He was a good trooper and even slept under the trees. My sister Sue and her family visited us for a long weekend. Roman had a great time with his 3 cousins-Owen 5, Evyn 3, and Eliyah 7 weeks. We went to the beach and the kids loved it. It was there first time ever seeing the ocean. We already miss them and can't wait for the next time family comes.

I(Naomi) have started training for a half marathon. It feels real good to get out there and run and do something for myself. Hopefully this will be good training for when I have to start chasing Roman around the house.

We are looking forward to the summer and the many great adventures we will have.

3 Months Old!

Roman is now 3 months old. He is becoming quite the little man.

We enjoyed having family down for Easter. The Easter bunny spoiled Roman with many baskets. Holidays are much more fun with a child.

Roman enjoyed his first plane ride up to New York this past weekend. We spent time with friends and family and he got to meet all his cousins. He also had a nice visit with his 95 year old Great Grandfather. He was very spoiled all weekend. We had Roman dedicated in my Father's church. It was a beautiful dedication and we had a great trip.

Roman is so alert and loves to smile. He is very social and is just starting to reach for things. It is so amazing to watch him discover and learn new things. We are adjusting to a new schedule as mommy has returned back to work. Aunt Michele was a great help the first week back. Roman will start at the sitter's on Monday. I know they will love him there.

2 Months Old!

Roman is now two months old. Where is the time going? He is becoming a little man. His personality is really starting to show through and we are falling in love with him more and more each day. Roman struggled with reflux this month but we finally have it under control. He is definitely giving us a run for our money. There were a few ROUGH nights. Our only problem now is all the gas he has. I guess that is what I have to look forward to with two guys and a dog in the house:)

The past two months have been life changing. We can't imagine life before Roman. We are all doing very well and life is treating us good. Thank God for the 'ups' in life. They are a wonderful thing.

He loves to play under his jungle gym and giggle. His smiles always put me in a good mood and gives me the strength to keep going. Daddy witnessed his first roll over at 6 weeks. We could not believe it. He is so strong. We look forward to all his 'firsts'. Check out the video from this past month which include him rolling over.

Mango is showing signs of jealousy and has decided she wants to become a cat. The proof is in the video. She is climbing all over. She will knock things over so we are trying to tell her that if she wants to be a cat, she has to learn not to knock things over. She is very sweet with Roman though. She loves to lay her head on his legs while he is sleeping in his bouncer or on Mommy's lap. She always lets us know when he starts crying.

I will be going back to work in two weeks. I am going to miss spending the day with him. However, it will be good for me to get some adult interaction. We love his sitter. Her name is Laura and I am sure he will be well taken care of.

Roman is now one month old. We can't believe it. He is much more alert and growing fast. He does keep us on our toes but we love it. He loves to adventure out of the house and take walks. He is getting used to Mango and I think he is starting to love her as much as we do.
Daddy is now able to help with the feedings as Roman loves taking a bottle. It has been a help for Mommy and it is a nice time for the boys to bond. Roman is a little ham and loves having his picture taken. We took him for his first photo shoot. We will share the photos when we receive them. HE IS SOOOO ADORABLE!!!
I think I can finally say that we are used to our new 'normal'. We have adjusted to the change and are settling into a schedule. I know there are many changes in the future and we welcome them with open arms. We would not change our lives for anything and we love being a family. OK, there are definetely some hard times with raising a baby but we honestly are enjoying it and are glad we can share out adventures with you. Please check out the photos and videos.

2 Weeks Old

Roman is now 2 weeks old. He is back to his birth weight and growing. He is such a little angel. We love him so much. So far, he loves to eat, sleep, and poop. He does love his hands however. They are always up by his face and he even sucks his fingers at times. It is so amazing how much you can love someone so much. He is doing better than we expected as far as the night is concerned. He feeds around 10 or 11 and than gets up at around 2 am and than he will sleep until about 6. We ar blessed so far. We enjoyed having grandparents in town. Roman got lots of hugs and kisses. We are pleased to announce that Roman Francis Przygoda was born on January 13, 2008 at 12:58 am. He weighed 8.6 pounds and was 21 inches long. He is so amazing and we are already so in love with him. My water broke while eating lunch at Five Guys. We went to the hospital and he was delivered 9 1/2 hours later. It was an amazing experience and we are so thankful that everyone is happy and healthy. We are adjusting well to being home and having a little one to take care of. So far is has been a great eater and Daddy has become an expert on changing diapers. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

We made it to 2008. I can't believe it. 2007 was a huge year for us and we are so thankful for all the adventures we had to go through to get to where we are today. Let's reflect back a minute at what some of these adventures were...selling house, getting pregnant, moving into apartment, building new house, moving into new house, Rick finding a new job, Rick graduating, buying a new car. Oh yeh! we bought a new car. We wanted to make sure to throw one more curve ball into the year before it ended. It is a Nissa Murano. We figured it would be a good family car. We are finally settled and are looking forward to a new 'normal' with Roman approaching. I am feeling real good and hoping for a baby delivery any minute. I am not sure my belly can get any bigger so he must come soon. He kicks often and I have been having a lot of small contractions. His head is low and getting ready to make his way into the world. Rick's new job is going great and I am enjoying having him home for dinner instead of him going to class. I have attached a picture of him from graduation. We are all so proud of him. The new house is working out great. We have enjoyed our Christmas and New Year and are patiently waiting for the arrival of our son. Please keep us in your prayers as we are getting ready to embark on a new adventure.

December Update!

Finally.....things have calmed down. We moved into the new house. It is great. We love it. I had a lot of fun decorating. We finally feel settled. Rick finished school last Wednesday and he graduates on Friday. CONGRATS!!!!!! I am looking forward to having my hubby back. I am now 35 weeks prego and feeling it. LOL! I have enjoyed the pregnancy but am looking forward to it ending and meeting Roman. I feel real good and go to the doctor again on the 20th. I will find out if he his head down and getting ready to come out. Let's keep our fingers crossed. I will keep you posted on the progress. I am sure he has to be head down because he is constantly kicking me in the ribs. OUCH!

10 WEEKS LEFT!

Ok, so I am now 30 weeks prego! I can't believe it is almost coming to an end. I am so exicted to meet Roman. I am feeling really good except for the occasional tossing and turning in the night. A pregnant woman can never have enough pillows. Poor Rick, I have taken over the bed. I am feeling Roman move and kick all the time. The little bugger loves to stick his body parts (unknown which ones) out and jab me. He already loves to play. He will respond most of the time if the belly is poked. Him and Mango have bonded. Mango loves to lay her head on my belly and Roman will kick. It is so cute! Let's hope they get along when he comes out.

We hopefully (cross your fingers) close on the house November 21st. We are so excited to get in and settled. I can't wait to set up the nursery.

Rick is liking his new job. He has an office all to himself. Go figure, as soon as he gets a new job, he gets called up for jury duty. He reports in next week. Hopefully he will get off for the sake of all of us.

October Update!

I am just beginning the third trimester. I can't believe how fast the time is going. I am so excited to meet Roman and to become a mom. So far I am up 14 pounds (not too bad if I say so myself), and feeling great. I have developed some heartburn on occasion but thanks to Rick, he is keeping me stocked with Tums. He is already a great dad. He makes sure I am feeling well and taking good care of myself and Roman. Only 3 more months and we should be settling into our "new normal" life. Please check back as we will keep you posted on the progress of the house. We have locked into an interest rate and the closing date is in sight.

We just got back from a weekend at Myrtle Beach. It was nice and relaxing to get away and enjoy each others company. We had great weather and ate some really good food. Make sure to check out our photo albums for pictures from our weekend.

We did go to the doctor today to have a 3D-4D ultrasound taken. Eveything looked good with Roman. His heartbeat was in the 140's and he is 2.6 pounds. He was either playing shy throughout his photo shoot or he is going to be a boxer. He is soooooo cute. I think he looks like my sister. Check out his pictures on our photo albums. Mango is already jealous. She did not like that we kept looking at his pictures when we got home.

It's Coming Along!

The house is coming along. As you can see in the picture, the brick work is about done. By next Friday, all the dry-wall should be finished. I guess the process moves along real quick after that. We are real excited to move in. They are going to try to get us in there before Thanksgiving. Thank God!!! Keep us in your prayers as we are going to be locking into an interest rate in the next week and pray that Rick keeps his job or finds a new one very quickly.

I have the solution for anyone who thinks their life is boring...build a house, have a baby, graduate school, and find a job all within 2 months of each other. I promise it will bring excitement.

IT'S A BOY!

Yes, we are having a boy. We went to the doctors today and saw everything. He was very well behaved and let us check him out. At one point during the ultrasound he gave us a wave. It was so adorable. I did start crying. It was so overwhelming to know that I was carrying a little boy inside of me. Rick was very supportive during the exam and he is so excited to be having a son. The doctor says he looks great and everything is going as planned. I am doing well also. I have gained 9 pounds so far. Hopefully I will keep up the good work. We are so excited about our new addition and can't wait to meet him. His name will be Roman. We know he is a gift to us sent from above. Check out our photo album for more pictures.

HALF WAY THERE!

Well, I am now half way through my pregnancy. I am 20 weeks pregnant and feeling really good. I have really popped out and I think people can tell I am officially pregnant and not just gaining weight. The baby is moving a lot. Rick and I felt the baby move for the first time this week. It was an amazing feeling. It looks like my stomach is twitching when it moves. We will be going for our next ultrasound next Wednesday to find out the sex. We will keep you posted.

I have started back at school this week so hopefully it will help the time go back faster. We just can't wait to meet the 'little one'.

What's Going On?

As most of you know, we are in an apartment waiting for our town house to be built. They say we have a closing at the end of November. Let's keep our fingers crossed. We are getting real excited for the new house. It was a lot of fun designing the features in the house.

Rick has just finished his 8th class. He has 4 left. He will graduate with a MBA in the beginning of December. We are both looking forward to him being done. He has done a great job and now the hard part comes....finding a good paying job.

I am about to start up a new school year. I go back on the 20th and the first day for the kids is the 27th. I am looking forward to getting back in a routine. Being busy in school and moving into the new house will make this pregnancy go by a little quicker (hopefully)!

18 Weeks Prego!

I am now 18 weeks pregnant and feeling great. I definetely look pregnant now and will most likely be buying maternity clothes any day now. I went to the doctor last week and everything looks good. I still have not gained any weight. YEH! The baby's heartrate was in the 150's. We will go back on September 5th for another appointment and hopefully the baby will cooperate so we can find out what it is. We will keep you posted as to the findings of this appointment. We are both real excited and looking forward to the future.

We went home this past weekend for a baby shower and received lots of fun baby things. It was a combined shower with my niece Chelsea who is also pregnant. She is about 7 weeks ahead of me.

THE START OF A NEW TRIMESTER

I am now 13 weeks pregnant. I am starting the second trimester. I don't believe I have gained any weight but as you can see in the photo, I have popped. Right now I just looked like a gained a few pounds so I can't wait to get bigger so people know that is a baby. Besides, I am too big for my pants and too small for maternity pants right now. What is a pregnant girl to do? I have been feeling great and starting to get more energy back. I really have had an easy pregnancy so far. Thank God for good genes. Thanks mom! We are looking forward to finding out the sex of the baby. We have about 7 weeks to go. I thought it was a girl all along until I had a dream that it was a boy. Who knows now? Rick thinks it is a boy but I just think that is what he wants. Anyway, we will keep you posted as other changes occur.

Nine Weeks!

We went to the doctor today for another ultrasound. They said everything looks great. The baby's heart beat was strong. You can see the little hand and foot in the picture. It is so amazing to watch this little thing grow. We are so excited about the future. I have been feeling OK. I have not been sick. I do get a little nauseous at night sometimes but besides that I can not complain.
We have officially moved out of the house and are in an apartment. I am glad we will have no yard work for the summer.

Mango is one year old. She is still as little as can be. She thinks she is a lot bigger than she is. She is a little dog with a huge personality. We can't believe we have had her for a year now. It is amazing how much a dog can change your life. We our glad to have her as part of our family. We have had to lay the law down for her though. We have purchased a shock collar. It seems to be working well with keeping her barking to a minimum. Hopefully we will keep up the good training and get her ready to be a big sister.

Where do I start....We sold our house and close on June 14th. We will be moving into an apartment for six months until our townhome is finished being built. We are very excited about a new place. I guess you can say we are going for the maintenance free living. We also just found out that we are expecting a little one. I am 7 weeks pregnant. You can check out the first ultrasound photo. It is in the shape of a diamond ring. I wonder what that means? We are very excited. We heard the heartbeat last week. I guess it is true what they say, when it rains, it pours! We are very excited about all of the changes. Keep us in your prayers though!
