Summer

This summer was a low key, stay local, kind of boring summer. We haven’t had many of them so it was a nice treat.

The summer started off hard. We lost Mango. She was 16 and a part of our family. It was a decision that we had to make for her best interest. It was such a hard day and we miss her so much.

Roman did do a lot of fishing. He went to the beach a couple of times where he caught his first shark. This was pretty exciting for him. The rest of the summer, Roman was enjoying the break before all the things that come along with starting high school. He did some jobs to make some cash. He still amazes me with his work ethic and making the most of his time. He also spent all summer training with some amazing mentors to prepare him for the upcoming football season. Through all of the training, he gained more confidence…not just in the game but in his mind. He pushed himself beyond what he thought he could do and never gave up. It is now paying off. He is playing QB for his freshman team and I am loving watching him on top of the hill right now. He has had so many valleys but he never gave up. He is one of my biggest inspirations. So far, all in all, he has had a great transition into high school and we are hopeful for a great rest of the year.

Max had many playdates. He was either at someones house or they were at our house. Between going to the movies, playing some sport out on the street, swimming, or causing chaos in the bonus room-he was busy all summer. His summer 7 on 7 team did win the super bowl. We love watching him on the field. He never stops and keeps us all on our toes. We are looking forward to him playing in this up and coming tackle season. I am hoping for the best 5th grade year for him as he starts a new chapter next year.

Rick and Max did take a trip to Florida to visit family. They had fun eating all the food, going to the beach, and shopping. While they were away, Roman gave me a little bit of time and we went out to eat together at a local seafood place.

The fourth of July was spent with friends at the local football field. We grilled out and set off fireworks. It was fun night.

We spent Rick’s birthday eating Mexican and yes…we still had them sing to him.

Rick and I had a night out at a concert with friends. This was our first exposure to “Texas Country” music. It was a fun night but the music has not yet grown on me;)

We are in full swing of the new school year. Roman is in 9th (freshman), Max is in 5th (last year in elementary), I am still teaching first and Rick is still working from home keeping Chewy entertained. We have had a smooth transition and the boys are doing great in school. Football is in full swing-Roman won his first grade the other night and we are so proud of him. Max will have his first game this coming Saturday. As of today, I am thankful for where we are right now and I hope this “hill” that we are on last awhile.
